Tomorrow will hopefully be my first day gamble free as i lost a lot of money today and i cannot take anymore.

It's my wifes birthday in a week, and i have next to nothing to buy her anything. My gambling is leading me to becoming distant with my family, becoming more aggresive and less patient with myself and others. Gambling is literally draining the life and energy out of me and normally, the only way to make myself feel better is to gamble and actually win. This false sense of euphoria has taken control of me and by joining the 2016 challenge, i am going to try and take back control.

Good luck to everyone else.

Checking in on day 181.

Finances have improved significantly since I started to abstain from gambling. Often doing the right thing can be a long boring road. I wonder how others on here deal with a more level life. Gambling creates a lot of high & lows, so without that life can seem boring. Don't know how others deal with this especially if your in debt.

Checking in on 371 Days.

Many Thanks for all the congratulations on my reaching the 365 milestone. There's some really excellent tallies being chalked up on here. It shows to people just starting out what can be achieved.

Not been easy at times, it's been achieved with the right measures and blocks in place.

I offloaded a lot during counselling sessions. There I had someone to report my progress once a month and ithat really helped me. This forum helped a lot as well when I've been struggling.

I think one of the most satisfying outcomes is my thinking is not so clouded these days. My mind is not full of depressing thoughts about where the money was coming from to pay my bills. The horrible anxious feelings caused by chasing losses have been banished to the past.

I think you have to to be ready in your own mind to cease gambling for good. In my case, I'd been to my own personal hell and back. I could not take any more grief that my gambling caused both myself and people close to me.

I'm not for one minute pretending life is perfect now. I have debts caused by gambling and I've got payment arrangements in place with creditors. That has eased my situation a whole load.

I hope all the above makes some sense to people.

Anyway, best wishes to all.

Take Care.
