Hi I have been gambling for a few years now and it had become an issue. I have stopped now for various reasons and I hope never to return to it and will be registering with gamstop.

However over the years on company (gamesys) has allowed me to open multiple accounts in my maiden and married names on all of their sites without any verification. I used my various bank account cards/credit cards, paypal and netteller all in my name. I've gambled thousands on them. When I joined Ojo they asked for verification before I even deposited which seems really sensible.

I accept gambling is my problem and I addressing it but now I'm kind of at a loss as to why a company allowed me to open so many accounts and take money wagered from them when they claim to be dedicated to responsible gambling. When I put an account on a timeout and felt the need I simply opened another with no checks, just happily accepted the money. I had/have around six accounts on each of their sites so maybe 30 accounts in total all of which are on temp exclusion.

As I say gambling is my problem but I also feel they've been really irresponsible in allowing it. I dont know if it's worth lodging a complaint with them so that maybe no one else gets into the same mess with them.

Hello @ottosmum

What we do best here at GamCare is to support you to put your gambling behind you and focus on recovery. If you do wish to complain about a gambling operator, the Gambling Commission provide information on how to do so:

https://www.gamblingcommission.gov.uk/for-the-public/Your-rights/Complaints.aspx

We can't see whether you've made any other posts on the forum, however in this post you've said you are addressing your gambling problem which is good. If you'd like any more support to help you do that, please do get in touch with us on the freephone HelpLine 0808 8020 133, or chat to us on the NetLine.

I totally agree...it's very nasty move to take advantage of someone's weakens. Some Online operators are happy to take your deposit just like that but when you want to withdraw...then they need verification. Wrong way round
