Howdy all,

Had a bit of a relapse last night however I managed to stop myself before stepping into the dreaded rabbit hole.

Still cost me a fair penny but not the ridiculous amount I used to spend. This isn't me back on the gambling horse this is me kindly saying thanks but no thanks.

Can you believe I spent 5 nights in Vegas for a wedding that never happened and I didn't gamble once (thanks to my loving wife) yet I come home and I am on-line when the chance arises. I shall never be attending that hell hole again as it was the forerunner for the binge I had last night.

I felt like a big piece of c**P however it's not my feelings I am worried about any more as it's my wife who I don't want to disappoint.

The shame of hurting her is giving me strength to not gamble and it's what stopped me last night. I think this is the most powerful tool I have.

Bit of a weird feeling as I am proud I stopped but depressed that I let us both down.

We have the chance to get rid of all our debt within the next 9 months including past gambling debts. I am slowly realising there is no quick fix so onwards and upwards towards a brighter future.

Day 1 gamble free! 😀

Hi DJBlu,

Welcome back again to the forum,

Well done for the steps you take from gambling more than you could afford to loose. Maybe you can pat yourself on the back for the person you are learning to become, like you mentioned you would have step in 'the dreaded rabbit hole', but you were able to stop yourself.

It seems like you have a good reason not to gamble, and the motivation of not hurting your wife seems to be working, this coupled with your determination to not gambled has paid off.

What do you think about blocking all gambling from your computer if online gambling is your problem, this will help you not to have access to gambling online, so that if even you have the urge to gamble you will not have the means.

Some of the blocking softwares that we recommend, mainly because we have had a lot of positive feedbacks on them, which has encouraged us to try and will agree that they are good, are Betfilter and Gamblock. You can go on Google and search for them and read more about them to see if you would like to use any of them.

It seems like you will like to share how you are doing on a day to day basis with us on this forum. people have found opening their own recovery diary on the Recovery Diaries section and posting each time they can as a reminder of how they are doing on their recovery very helpful. You will also get others on here to reply to support you.

You can read from how others have found this helpful and see if you would like to start one if you have not already

You can always come and talk to us on our Helpline/Netline if you will like to talk to someone about how you feel you can always come and talk with us.

Take Care,

Regards,

Florence
