I noticed on the website that I use, you can set a limit to how much you can deposit each day. However, if you limit yourself to £50 and you lose the £50, you can always change the limit.

I think its important for those who have gambling problems surronding these machines understand what they are playing and not just use "its rigged" to cheat you.

Its they way the game has been designed for years, its not stood the test of time in casinos because it needs to be "rigged" to make the operator money.

Some people might find it a way to try and come to terms with losses and addiction, but it might be better to just accept the addiction to the product rather than the way it works.

In case anyone is stuggling to navigate the gambling commission website, this is the relevent section...

"If a gaming machine offers a game which is recognisable (e.g. Poker, Blackjack, Roulette) and is described as such by title or visual presentation and the chances of winning differ from an equivalent real game then this must be made plain to the player either via the artwork or help menus. In any event the rules of the simulated game must be clear and transparent to the player."

So if it looks like roulette and does not state any different in the rules of the game, you should complain to the gambling commission.

The whole technical standards required for all B2 games...

Any game can be addictive for the problem gambler which I am.

I have to admit though these machines in the bookmakers in the 1990s got me in to roulette in a big way and I ended up being a roulette addict online as well.

These machines are not only addictive to some people but wreak havoc in their lives.

I took out loans to play these and went from having savings and an AA credit rating to today being in debt and living on a shoestring budget. I was a sensible saver with money before. The FOBTs are very dangerous.

Only completely finished with them and the bookies at the end of 2011 because such a hard habit to kick.

I am no longer interested in their statistics and how they work. They are simply dangerous to many people and should be scrapped.. They will only create havoc and ruin in many lives as they have done to me over the past nearly 20 years

Hi everyone,
I just want to share you my experience . 10 years ago i was one of many gambling addict ever produce thanks to online gambling and bookies . One day i went to william hills and played roullette as to my suprise i was doing so well that i have managed to get my upto ВЈ2,000 the people watching can't believe that i have managed to get my credit up for a short period of time . I decided to cash out and tbe next day i went back in again and won another ВЈ700 the 3rd day £500 and as i was cashing out from my third winnings of the week i've noticed the lady staff is getting annoyed due to the winnings in 3 consecutive days and this is what she said that until now is still in my head. She shout to his colleagues whilst im cahing out " the machine is broken" and i was shocked of what i've heard but didn't take it seriously as i continue to come around and play things went downhill so quickly , i've lost all the winnings and all my money rhat i don't have took a loan and wasted the money in less than a day . I have tried many ways of avoiding the game but when boredom strikes thats when iam almost hypnotise as i have no control what so ever. Now i can say that the bookies are totally rigged i know the game in out and have created a good technique but like i said it becomes so obvious when im playing . So to all my brothers and sisters here in gamcare stay away from the bookies they are totally rigged as i have proof that will stay in my head till i die .

Similar situation to you about 5 years back. Won few hundred couple of times then bang lost £1500 in 15 minutes. Thirty losing spins on the trot covering dozen numbers never entered a bookmakers ever again after that. Went online couple of years later doing sports and slots lost more money and stopped 4 months ago. Gambling who needs it.

For what it’s worth, my experience with FOBT machines were that 90% of the time, I had to ‘Lose’ money before I could start ‘winning’. So many times I would insert and lose £150 and then with my next £20, I would get up to around £180-£200. I’d count myself lucky to have escaped a big loss and I’d walk away with £20-£30 profit. Sometimes I’d just break even. Those were my ‘wins’.

My losses...well...like most people on here, I couldn’t just walk away with a £20 loss. I’d put every last pound into the machine that I had on me and then sometimes I’d even go to the cash point and draw out some more.

It’s really not worth playing them!

I remember winning about 15 times in a row on those machines. Taking about £30-£50 a time. But then on my 16th visit I lost about £500. So despite winning 15/16 times, I was still only even.

As for whether they’re rigged. I’m not sure. I did use to see some very unusual patterns. I could cover 2/3rd’s of the board and not hit anything on there for about 8 spins. I mean, what are the chances of that? Then I’d suddenly have a big winning streak where all my big numbers would come in.

Bottom line - don’t play them! They’re designed to bleed you dry!

Abousletely agree I’d always get down to my last 20 before it would hit how ever have turned 20 into 320 before and 179 other day but most time you’ll lose and it’ll tease you by landing next door to your jackpot number they are horrendously rigged because these days you don’t even win some of the time where’s online roulette you do

Not an FBOT but I put well over £500 through an online slot, a game thats in all bookmakers FBOT's, never once did I get the bonus feature you play it for. There were that many "near misses" I thought it was a cert to come in the next time, and the next, and the next etc. It never did and I lost nearly everything I had in a few hours. Online slots are the same as FBOT's designed to take you for all you have and more! Horrible things!
