Hi. I've been gamble free for 13 days. It has been easy as the initial enthusiasm has been the key driver in avoiding gambling. The counsellor at Gamcare asked me what percentage chance of lapsing. I said 95% chance of no lapsing. She advised caution and said that she would prefer I say 80% and put plans in place in case I lapsed. She was right. My tipple has always been the football so with the start of the premiership this weekend I got it in my head to put on a wager. I thought of seeking out my hidden debit cards and thought of ways to get money for just one bet. The advice and support of Gamcare has been invaluable to give me guidance during these times. So remember that whatever you win would only be gambling tokens and would get out of control again. I musn't and didn't succumb. I stayed strong although I had panic attacks over night. Would still like a flutter today but easier to ignore. Please give me further guidance on how to stay strong. Many thanks and good luck all.
Hello Bumblebee
It does get easier once you battle through the stages of adapting to trying to break the habit. If you're like me I would gamble frequently everytime there was football on I'd certainly be having a bet. Although I never spent massive amounts on football but the gambling would never be only on the football I'd have to bet on horses or slots.
What i'm getting at is I had to break the habit once I'd done than then formed a new habit I became easier.
Can you find something to fill your time with especially times where you'd previously bet on the football?
All the best
