How can I get over the pain of losses? It's all I think about.

Hi everyone, I am new to the forum and wanted to share a little bit about my story. I'm sure most people here will have been through the same.

To start, I began gambling when I was about 18, small bets on the football now and again and an odd visit to the casino. At that time, It was extremely small stakes and in my opinion it was simply for the fun and thrill, no more.

7 years later I have truly realised that I have a gambing problem. My stakes have incerased considerably, no win is enough as I put it back anyway, and the losses just haunt me. I have gone through stints of 6 months, even over a year before without gambling, but that was just due to a loss of interest I suppose. Yet this time round I feel it is much more serious. I recently received about 30k in inheritence and ended up gabling around 10k of that in around a 2 week period. on roulette I was up about 7k at a certain point and throught I was the king of the world. Well, that went back and so did the 10k.

I have already come clean to my mother who is the strongest woman I know and I am doing everything in my power to move on. I promised her that was the last time and I truly meant it. 5/7/2018 was my last time and I am sticking to it. 16 days GF so far.

I guess the hardest part is dealing with the losses and the mental damage it has done. I wish I could just delete these thoughts and leave it all behind but it consumes me sometimes. It's so difficult....

As of so far I have blocking software on my laptop and have made an appointment to see a gambling addiction specialist.

I just want to leave this whole gambling world behind and stop the mental torture and damage I cause myself time and time again.

How did you approach your situation? How has it worked out for you so far?

Thanks in advance for your time.
