Hi adam here in honour of Mixer and all the hours and hours and days he put into this thread and the support he gave to soo many i think we should try to keep this thread alive. With mixer gone a lot of us found it a lot harder to stay gamble free without the momentum of this thread and of course mixer. I have looked up everyones day counts and have noted them down. We are on the way to guru status and if we've reahced it we shall continu on this road wiser as i saw a thread titled its a journey not a destination, i thought this was very clever as we are on this path for the rest of our lives never reaching the gamble free destination but continuing to grow. I would like to say that stephen has been thinking of not continuing on this thread as he doesn't wish to count the days gamble free, you've been an incredible support on this thread and whether you wish to count ur days or not i would love to see your fun filled enthuastiastic and moving posts on the thread in the future. Here are the totals:

oh almost forgot the mixer joke, a man wlaks into a pet shop and says "i'll have a wasp please", the women behind the counter says "sorry sir we dont sell wasps", the man replies "but there's one in the window" lol. As you can see there are currently 7 of us on over the guru status, this is no doubt due to Mixers efforts, lets all strive to one day at a time possibly get over this threshold too. If however we don't make it we can say we tried or best and look to get up and start again. I've been on here for 3 years now and this year if i dont gamble till new years ive not gambled for 260 days of the year, this i thought was not possible but slowly getting the blocks in place i've got there. Lets all write a bit about us and how we are getting on in mixers absence and what we are looking to do in 2019. adam123

Greetings to all Guru Challengers.

Well done Adam on your continuing good progress. I greatly admire your courage and determination, you have a great attitude to recovery.

Back to keeping a gamble free day count for me, i will endeavour to reach the target of 300 days without gambling. My last bet was 3rd November 2018...Stephen

Yeah, hat off to you Ad...Lots of false starts from you but how lovely to see you pick up the responsibility of this thread 🙂

It is a journey, not a destination but that doesn’t mean anyone can be complacent...Keep fighting for your freedom everyone - ODAAT

When I first joined this challenge on the 25th April this year I can't tell you how much mixers first post in this thread helped me, I really didn't think I could get past day one of not gambling until I read it and although he is not with us right now and may not know it but he has inspired me and so many others more than words could explain.

You can read the post here Want to do something?

Mixers words were 'It's a long post, but hopefully evocative of the spirit of our group.'

I still go back and read parts of it nearly 7 months later, it's truly the best thing I ever took the time to read in my life x

Thanks Adam for the update.

Day 36 checking in. I’ve just read through the post by Mixer too that Xangel11x mentioned and it all makes complete sense. I’m checking in on 36 days gamble free I’d really like to get to Guru status on this .

Hi, it's Tara2. I couldn't log on due to technical problem with this site, a few months ago. Then I stopped trying to log on. I lost touch with recovery sites (my own fault) and I started to escalate scratcher ticket play and it bit me several times , the last time being yesterday. I always allowed scratchers to be my default but never imagined going this far with tickets. Yesterday I bought the most ever in one day and the denomination of the ticket also increased to the top priced one. WOW. Just to watch all that come down. Slot play and casinos was a whole different story but scratcher gambling had many of the same attributes and results. It's all gambling. Now I have another story. I am so glad that I have self exclusions or I may have folded and been in debt and digging my own grave by now... If I did not mention this scratcher problem I could go down also. I mean, I think that after I have now lost a large amount of money over all to scratchers, well, it could take me down easier with trying to win back losses (just like slots) and I could get into buying large amounts every day . NO. I've cycled through the scratcher story to the bitter end in my book. done. Glad to be back and I'll call it day one. thx. tara2

Hi Tara, I have a couple of friends who are addicted to scratch cards and altho I think half of money goes to charity which is good the other half is taken up with a small amount to prizes and some to running it. So altho u have gambled a lot went to the good causes so that's good.
