I have expectations of people and situations that don't ever seem to be met. I really get thrown off my center by expecting to have myself be held up by others and their priorities and choices. This would be lucky. tara2

Good morning! I'll be writing a MINI CATCHUP tomorrow, but until then, I hope you're enjoying this lovely hot month gambling-free.

Just think:

- you've got more money in your pocket to spend in this great weather

- you've enjoyed the world cup immensely - even cheering the underdogs! - because you haven't spent a brass farthing betting on it. (You'd've lost tons anyway - the bookies have absolutely cleaned up. No wonder theyve eased up on WC gambling promotions - they've taken everyone's money!). Strange how the stress just falls away and you can enjoy the matches and atmosphere in a different, better way. Ok, there's still stress watching England but a different kind of stress...!

- Your friends and loved ones notice a different 'you'. A 'you' that's come out of their shell, showing attention and natural generosity. This is the 'you' they want to see!

Enjoy the weekend, everyone. Full catch-up tomorrow!

Day 7 of no drinking alcohol and day five gamble free...lots of difficult choices lay behind and ahead, hoping to make the correct choice one by one. Englands performance really cheered me up today after the difficult decision to stay in and not gamble or drink today... We are being spoilt for weather and entertainment... We really are.

Good evening everyone. I'm sorry but I won't be able to post my catch-up until Tuesday (no later); just particularly busy right now.

Meantime, keep strong and take care.

Guru Challengers of the world - time to stand up and be counted. There is no point crying in our cereals we need to show courage, common sense and commitment as we confront this insidious, cruel and despotic monster we know as gambling addiction.

No point paying lip service to the advice and information, we need to defend ourselves with all the strategies and good ideas that are discussed in the forum and take on board the wisdom that is offered to us.

Look to the future with eyes on a goal - goodbye to the past - Let's Rock n Roll

Day 80,

I’ve more or less spent the last 80 days educating myself here, it has been invaluable to me. I never thought I could have made it 10 days in the beginning but here I am 80 days into my recovery and 20 away from the big one!

Much love, Daniel

Cheers! I'm on a day at time & my mind yearns to trip me up by future planning. Having the self exclusions at near by casinos is a huge block and when urges come it does make me feel sick for a moment. Stephan is right to focus on things to keep us safe from the cunning addiction. Yes, having one month distance , once AGAIN, feels solid. One month can give a sense of clarity and grounding. I don't want to ramble. I don't have much advice and I have not been a shining example over the last nearly decade of trying to beat this. But, today is good. It's a good day to be live. tara2

Hi, back again 17 days under the belt, after a blip of feeling vulnerable and not actually resetting my years exclusion at shops thinking I could just have that “one” go. That’s a no no. What a hangover ..All exclusions in place again. Been on holiday since so had a nice break away from everything time to crack on with other plans.. no more hangovers

Hi mixer and peeps, ill be totally honest, I'm back to playing my weekly Monday night five pound poker tourney for a bit of socialising. Ive managed to go and not go on fruit machines three weeks in a row and feel I can continue to do that. If u feel that this is gambling eachwek and I shouldn't be on this thread then sobe it but I'm enjoying seeing old friends and it s just a fiver. Wishing you al every success that can comeyoure way, adam
