Hello so I have come here to hopefully get some tips on stopping gambling I have been gambling for a few years on online slots, I had good times but mostly bad times, and tonight is the final straw I have just spent £200 in about 10 deposits which may not be a lot to many people but to me it is, the money was supposed to be for my children to have a lovely time whilst there not at school, I am so sick of gambling but I have no will power, I don't want to admit I have a problem but I know that I do. When I win I end up putting it back in or into different sites so I never gain anything anyway, my trouble is tonight after my loss I am sitting here saying I will not gamble anymore because it's so fresh but come tomorrow night it's the first thing I'll want to do. I've taken a few steps before including phoning my bank and asking to put a block on allowing transactions to online casinos which worked for a little while but then all of a sudden started allowing them through and the bank didn't seem to bothered about it, also I closed loads of accounts but I always find new ones, I have also spoken to a support team at one of the casinos who gave me a free gam ban to download to my phone but for some reasons makes none of my internet work on the phone so I had to turn it off, I feel like my only hope now is will power so I need tips on how I can over come this please? Also I wanted to say I spend loads of money online gambling but would never go into a casino and deposit actual cash so why do I deposit after deposit online? I don't know what else to do anymore no one knows about my issue and I don't really feel like I can take to any family or friends about it.

Thanks for reading

Hello Pickle1812,

Well done for joining the forum and posting your story.

You might like to call GamStop, the national self-exclusion scheme for online gambling, on 0800 138 6518 https://www.gamstop.co.uk/contact-us . You can check whether your accounts will be covered by their scheme here: https://www.gamstop.co.uk/participating-companies

About blocking software, it is important to choose a version that is compatible with your smartphone. Products like GamBlock, GamBan, Betfilter and others, offer various versions of their product, some versions are compatible with iOS for iPhones, some with Androids. You could look at the App Store if you use an iPhone, or Google Play if you use an Android, for other options. There is more information here: http://www.gamcare.org.uk/get-advice/what-can-you-do/blocking-software

If you get into a routine of regularly sharing peer support on the forum, you may find that the 'Recovery mindset' of other forum members can sometimes help you to feel more encouraged and inspired.
