You could... but then you could access them whenever you wanted really. This way you have to wait for the defrosting so any urges to gamble will pass before you can get at the cards!
Interesting post Ben, this one working for you/anyone else?
I guess you're saying that the garden can be dug up relatively easy but you will have to wait for the ice to defrost?
Altho my digging is probably quite poor so it would take some of us longer than others!
Keep the ideas flowing.

well, ben
u know if i was desperate, i would use the microwave.
hmmmmmmmmm, digging might just take that bit longer - depending of course on the skills of the digger!

I have all my direct debits set up for the day after i get oaid, including rent so approximately 70% of my pay is accounted for. Then we go and do a really big shop, accounting for some more of my wage, leaving me with just enough to get through the month! I don't hand over my cards to my partner, that caused arguments before and i would get into stupid situations where i ran out of petrol and didnt have money to fill up etc... It's always been online gambling for me anyway, hardly ever sneaked off to the bookies or casino so my danger times are when i'm here in my front room and that;s why we have the PC in the front room so my partner can always see what i'm up to. Whatever your strategy, if it works for you then carry on doing it!
If you do go to GA then Look forward to your next GA meeting.
Assume that if you do go you are just going to lose.
Stay in your routine, no napping so you will be able to stay up late or anything like that.
Treat yourself to something other than gambling.
Stay focused.
hi all
To start with make sure that someone else has control over your finances. A joint account is the best way with a withdrawl requiring both signatories to sign, this helps keep the arguments at bay because both people knoe where the money is going and how much. pay as many bills by either direct debit (for gas electric rent and phone) and by standing order for things like gym membership. If you pay membership of groups like a gym by standing order they cannot re-set up the debit using a different number when you stop the membership, (they can if it is direct debit) as my daughter found to her cost.
if you use credit cards make sure that payments are made before the due date to escape the intrest charges. If you require larger items always try for a loan from your bank first as the rates are cheaper. if there is a local people's bank in your area join it, the rates are even cheaper there and you can save easier for larger items.
make sure for the first couple of months you write down a record of what you have saved by not gambling. make sure when paying debts of that you leave enough money to get some enjoyment each week, pictures or a meal or a trip out by bus/train so that the grind of life dosen't get you into depression.
All these methods worked for my wife and I for over 20 years.
I now have to rely on myself and it is harder. I make plans the night before to make sure I have something else to do the next day if the 'urge', 'feeling' or bug whatever you want to call it strikes. hesitation is deadly as it gives the non thinking mind a chance to win and you to lose ВЈВЈВЈВЈ.
I can and now do walk about with all the cash I need & can make it to the bank with it lol (cept for once) bad day but lesson learn't
my thing about pay day is that once all the standing orders are paid out and i have paid all the other bits , if i have money in there, maybe more than i thought there would be left i think , right im gona treat meself and go have a couple of pounds on the slot machines. i know i dont know my limits so plan each time before i went only to spend x amount that day. we all know how that turns out dont we?
I have to say that when i first started playing slot machines i used to enjoy it, then i found that i was losing myself in them, didnt have to think of nothing else at all , it all escaped and have many a day spent a full day on slot machines always returning home exhausted but satisfied and elated if i won, desolate and miserable if i lost. the more i put in the more i chased with the reasoning its so gotta pay out soon. sometimes , and i dont know if this makes any sense , if it paid out fairly quickly sometimes i would feel cheated that i hadnt had my 'playing time' on there.....how mad is that???
then if i lost lots i would be miserable, i would be wrung out emotionally and vowing either never to go back or to go back the next morning when i could get some more cash out on my card. then i would have to hobble through to the next pay day by either using credit cards (mine or my ex husbands) i dont want to be too graphic cos i dont want to give anyone ideas tuts. tho im sure many on here have all the angles.
the next pay day would come and i would start the month £650 overdrawn which was a big hurdle. i would work it out for the month and convince myself i could try and recover losses, sometimes i would sometimes i wouldnt, but i would give myself my limit in my head but it would never work. being unhappy at home i sometimes just didnt want to go home, or if i was losing i was racking my brain how to get more money if i had reached my limit on my normal withdrawal for that day. i would go to the supermarket and get cashback anything to try and get my money back. so payday is important i had gotten myself fairly straight for the start of this month then blew all chances by gambling. sorry i have gone on a bit but payday is important either to gamble , or cos you have no money at all, or to tell yourself you are going to beat this and not gamble ever again, or for a number of other reasons im sure others have. pay day is central for compulsive gamblers...... actually i think this is one of the reasons i dont do online gambling cos for me going out to play the slots meant i was me, it was an escape from my feelings or whatever was going on i didnt want to face!!
and i was one who never thought i had a problem too!!!! just didnt know when to stop!!
Pay Day - I let it pass and do not see it as pay day - I have changed mys direct debits so they come out at all different dates during teh month thay way they don`t hit on one day.. So pay day means nothign to me. I Have my weekley bidget and I choose not to think about pay day as my budget is teh same
Not making a big deal out of pay I think is teh way forward...
