Hello everyone, I hope all is well.
Currently on 124 days gamble free. My life's improved so much over the last four months without gambling. No massive urges or anything but i thought it's important to post on here that i know today will be a test on how far i've actually come.
I'm jumping on the train today to meet up with some old works mates to watch the liverpool vs united game (P.s come on liverpool). I'm going to be 30 miles from my home which means im not self excluded from the bookmakers in that town. Now i feel very confident this wont be a problem but as we all know gambling is a crafty little thing that takes over with one slight thought.
So i'm getting my guards in place now.
1. Taking only a small amount of cash with me for train fare, drinks and food.
2. Told my mates (who i aint seen in a while so they didnt know about my problem), so they know not to let me go there in the unlikely event i fancy a bet.
3. As a last back up, told the fiancee i will ring her if i get an urge and that. She can tell when im lying so when i come back home and she asks me i will be telling the truth.
Again i feel confident i wont even get an urge but i wanted to post on here to let others know in recovery that you will get tests all the time. I could of just said no to going today but why should i let gambling get in the way of my social life. I will be posting tommorow morning when im hungover how i got on etc.
Good luck everyone and here's to another gamble free day.
hello,
Just following up after yesterdays post. I'm pleased to announce that it was a successful day without any problems.
There were no urges or even any thoughts about gambling. The only time i talked about it was briefly to my friends about why i gave up gambling. All in all a good day out. Shame about the liverpool score 🙁 haha
All the best and thanks for reading.
Embracing the struggle
Yay...Good skills Embrace 🙂
So good to see you not only putting in plans to keep yourself safe but perhaps just as important, keeping yourself honest 🙂
