It had only been 6 days and today was meant to be the start of the 3 month Xmas challenge of no gambling and I've blew £250 by signing up to a online site that I hadn't before. I can't believe I've let myself do this. It's the first time I've bet online in over 18 months. When will this ever stop
Hi
Thanks for your posting. Try not to be too hard on yourself. For many relapses are part of the recovery story. Like many other addictions gambling is a hard one to beat. If you need support don't forget the National Gambling Helpline is open 24/7 0808 8020 133 and an adviser will be there to help you to look at ways to deal with it. Take care.

Hi
I have lost count of the number of times I went back to gambling after some clean time.
Yet each time I went back to gambling it was painful.
I often say at meetings no matter when you had your last bet keep going to meetings.
You do not have to talk if you are not ready to.
I often found that meetings raised more questions than answers.
In time I got to know what my emotional triggers were.
I got to understand that each time I went back to gambling I simply made things harder for me and more painful.
Other people can gamble, that is their choice.
For me when I gambled I made things uch harder for me and my family.
The very last thing I want to do each day is gamble.
For me when I gambled it was fear based and caused more fears in me.
I use to be my own worst enemy, now I do not want or need to gamble..
Love and peace to every one.

@rock123 you can get blocks put on your bank account that stop gambling transactions. Would that help?
Chris.
No sure how you can have a 3 month Christmas challenge on the 2nd of November anyway but none the less it stops when you say to yourself it stops and you mean it
Willpower and common sense are still your greatest weapons against gambling
