Gf 17! I was banned from the bookies for 14 days because of my partner. Now she wants me to agree to a full ban, which requires me to get a passport photo and fill out a form. She has my bank cards, and I’ve given her £1,000. Plus, I pay my bills, which leaves me with very little money for myself. She wants me to attend counseling, which I’m willing to do, but I feel like I’m being stripped of my independence.
Anything I say or do isn’t good enough, and when we fight, I’m reminded that I’m a gambler (I know what I am). I feel angry and upset. Although I don’t have any urges to gamble, I’m so frustrated that I want to stop, but I feel controlled and like I’m just trying to please her. If I don’t do things her way, it’s not good enough.
I’ve never once asked her for a penny or stolen from her. I beat this addiction once years ago without her support, and I have the same determination to stop now. Some might say she’s looking out for me, but it feels like it's her way or no way. I don’t need or want her support; it will never be good enough."
Hi mate welldone for 17 days clean thats a great achievement im in a similar situation to yourself im on day 642 days and i still have issues about my past nevermind being supportive they still cannot comprehend why i kept relapsing so the days ment nothing my family loves to travel although being fortunate i have managed to go on 3 years since my gambling addiction taken place i have lost around £150k plus to this illness however i have to accept this issue as nobody in my family had any experience with this addiction looking at their perpective if the rolls were reversed its quite possible i may have acted the same so really their no right or wrong answer
