Just called up and renewed my SE for another year. Easy to do wish it could be done for life but one phone call a year is no hardship.

I even got a guy at GA who has been gamble free for 11 years to call up last month as even after that long he found himself looking in bookies windows, took me a while to convince him to do it but he has since said he wished he'd done it sooner. If he can do no excuse for others not to do it. Just give them a call 0800 292 2060.

I feel like I need to add my experience with this for people using this service to bear in mind. I used this service last year to exclude from all my nearby betting shops. Unfortunately this was over 100 shops in my case! I was specifically told by two members of staff (I hung up the first time outof frustration) that they could only exclude me from shops if I gave the location or address... not that easy when there are that many, some of which I didn't even come across (yet!!). So the first task was compiling a list of addresses. Once I had self excluded however, I still continued to go and gamble in those shops daily! Out of all of them I was ejected from only 3 after being recognised. One day in a fit of rage I went in to every single one to ask if I was self excluded. 4 shops didn't even have my details on their file (or never received them) and the rest had my photo on file yet I was able to gamble regardless. I had to go to each shop in the am and pm three days running and tell every staff member I was self excluded. This was the only way for me as I do not have the willpower and the potential Shame of being thrown out keeps me away. Im not suggesting the system is useless but needs to be approached with caution if you are hell bent on betting like I was.

I have heard "We apologise for the delay. An advisor will be with you shortly." a million times (ish). On hold for 20 minutes now I will be hanging up soon. This is pathetic. Took me a few weeks to finally call them and now this.

I just got through to them. I should have read all comments in this post before tring to call. I am in the same position as Gamblorr. I thought I would be able to self exclude from all bookmakers in a couple of areas but no I have to give store addresses for a few of them and I will be excluded from only those. I hungup out of frustration too.

I only mentioned there was around 7 I wished to abstain from and he seemed to scoff at that total. What would be my chances of self excluding from the 100 bookies in my area? Sigh.

What is the number of bookmakers anyone here has managed to give to the advisors?
