The other day I was getting the urge and gave in to it, went to an arcade near the office with about 2. Turned it into 40 and after thinking to myself how clever I was I walked off and bought a big load of shopping to celebrate.
Today I had to go bank a cheque and I snook into an arcade along the way, of course the inevitable happened. I was up for a while but it doesn't work like that and I lost about 30.
Had to make an excuse to the Mrs as to why I'd been so long....when I got back however she told me she'd placed loads of football bets which was a little surreal.
Definitely keeping myself away from cash and cards for a while. My business is going well and there is always the temptation then to start thinking "well it's only 20" etc
May seem like a trivial loss compared to some but It makes me feel stupid.
Hi fatuesque - The positive thing about your 'blip' is that you realised quite soon that you were on dangerous ground and stopped.
If my maths is correct, you made a profit of 8 pounds which as you obviously know, is really not worth all the bad feelings you now have.
So well done for putting this behind you and taking steps to prevent any further temptation.
Have you thought about joining the 2014 Challenge on this page? It's a team effort where you commit to no more gambling and check in once a week. It's really helpful as you feel part of a team which you don't want to let down and everyone supports each other. I'm sure you would find it helpful.

o*g I went out with a pal and lost my wallet with 100 in it earlier today.
What a bad week this has been !
Hi Baggins, thanks for your thoughts.
I am committed to not gambling however I feel that checking in on here every week would keep the issue in my mind too much.
I think restricting access to money will work best for me & not keeping cash on me.
Hi fatuesque - whatever works for you best is the right thing to do.
re. the lost wallet and cash - sorry to read of that, but at the same time it does bring into focus how as compulsive gamblers we would think very little of seeing 100 go down the plughole. That's the illogicality of our stupid habit. Hope the rest of the week is better for you.

Yes i thought just after i lost it that "i may as well of gambled it away"
No more gambling for me from now on.
I've only gambled using free bets left over from the world cup recently.
It's been a long time without any updates...I've probably gambled about £40 in bits and bobs since my last post. Bad of me but not a big problem.
Managed to almost get myself out of debt in the past few months (did owe about £5k) and £7k saved now.
My business is going well. I do think about gambling a fair bit but the days when i was a proper fruit machine addict are gone...now i'm obsessed with business and the mrs doesn't like that. That's another story though 🙂
Affected by gambling?
