Hi everyone,

I have been on this site before. I've tried lots of different ways to stop gambling. I have been gambling for almost 30 years on horses, dogs, football and online poker. I tried to stop gambling by counselling, GA, hypnotherapy, willpower. All to no success.

A few weeks ago, I listened to Darren Adam's show on LBC about gambling. I'd imagine it must have been discussed on these forums. One of the callers mentioned he read a book called The easy way to stop gambling by Alan Carr - not the comedian. He said reading the book helped him stop gambling. Immeadiately I ordered the book from Amazon. It cost £6.98.

I started reading the book about 3 weeks ago, and since I started, I've had no desire to gamble. The best time I'd be tempted to gamble is when I'm on annual leave. I have huge debts and no money to go abroad so I tend to get bored and gamble when I'm on leave. I was on leave last week and I didn't even look at a boomakers. It feels unreal and I wonder how long it will last. The book is amazing. Trust me, I have no connection with the author.

I was on these forums a few years ago, totally depressed. This time, I felt I should come back and tell you all about this amazing book. It's only £7. Give it a try!

Thank you for the recommendation. After reading your feed, I’ve placed the order for the book. Reading your feed made me feel slightly positive that there may be a way forward from having the urge to a gambling free world.

I have this strong urge to gamble today and still fighting it this min, my mind is consumed with chasing. I have to keep reminding myself I need to control this addiction and it’s only me who can do this! Fingers cross I can get a grip of myself and fight this urge! Wish me luck!

I agree. It's a great book. It's the best source of reading that I've found. I purchased it for my phone and got a chapter or two in a night.

Helped me a great deal. 49 days gamble free now.

All the best.

Thanks for the recommendation.

One thing I’ve discovered in the long journey it’s been to beat this d**n thing... You can never have too many allies, too many barricades or too many weapons. Even though I now feel, more than ever before, that I finally have this thing cracked, I am also acutely aware never to be complacent.

Alan Carr has just sold another book!

3CP you have taken a great step in ordering this book. I hope it arrives soon so that you can immediately feel the benefits.

You say you want to fight the urge. That’s already a positive start. I believe it was a god send that I heard about this book. I’m amazed what it’s done. us gamblers have been brainwashed and for me, the book has reversed the brainwashing. Let me know how you get on when the book arrives. All the best!

That’s great news. Gives us all great hope to be free from this trap. Deep down I really believe I’m transformed. Time will tell but the outlook is positive.

Thanks op for info,I bought book on my fone and have read it,I must honestly say it has made me realise how much of idiot I've been over the last 30 years and now I feel that my gambling days are over,I loved having a bet on horses, but overall I always lost and felt bad and down, iam in debt and now I will be free in time not deeper in red,I also liked to play the old 10p bandits in arcades like king kebab etc but not gonna play em anymore,I'm not going back to where iam now no way,Ive hurt enough over the years now them days are over, this is my 2nd day free of gambling and I feel more excited than craving a bet,I paid £3.69 on Google play for the book and it's already paid for itself many times over, give it a try it will make you think of how foolish gambling is .
