Tomorrow's a big day el-P - day 7 and a week free!! You're doing really well.........I'm liking your spend tally too - showing it to my bank manager so she realises that I'm not spending money left, right and centre!! How does your post life spend compare to your pre stop life spend?

Keep going mate - milestone to be really proud of......in fact every day is a reason to be proud.

Make hay while the sun is shining re work - it'll get busy again soon enough and you'll be run off your feet!

Take care,

Mr Brightside

Day 7

A gamble free week (not that I've had any money to actually gamble) but it's progress I suppose.

Work is gradually starting to get busy again, so hopefully that will preoccupy me over the coming months.

Total money spent: £1.60 (drink)

Day 8

Another day of feeling pretty low, but didn't gamble any money.

There's talk of a family holiday in July, so I'd best start saving those pennies!

Total money spent: £1 (drink)

Day 9

Had a good day today, work was pretty busy so I had my mind on that. Then went out for some dinner and saw All Is Lost at the cinema. Ordinarily I wouldn't be able to do that as I'd gambled all my money away, but I actually had a good time tonight.

Total money spent: £20 (dinner)

Day 10

Strange day, couldn't really get myself motivated to do much, spent much of the day in a bit of a trance.

Still, didn't gamble at all... on double figures now!

Total money spent: £5 (lunch)

Out with a few friends tonight, looking to have a good time and put any thoughts of gambling in the back of my mind.

Hey Fella!!

Well done on reaching double figures!! Great feeling, huh?

You're doing really well and hopefully beginning to feel more than one of the benefits.

Can you do me a favour and check in on the 2014 Challenge thread? Wouldn't want to see you on the naughty list - lol!!

just been having a read of your thread.

well done on the progress so far. I am in a similar position. 27 years old, lost a lot of time and money due to gambling.

2014 is going to be the year i change my life around. I had a slip at the start, but i am determined to set things straight.

keep up the good work and pull on all of the support you can get when pay day arrives!

Well done, on 10 days gamble free we're in pretty much the same boat here 12 days today for me. Its really difficult but we're got to use all the strength we can find to fight this addiction, keep thinking about that holiday and stay focused, save your money, you can do it, S x

Another fairly non eventful day, in fact I'm finding it difficult to actually write anything of any worth.

2 weeks clean!

Day 15

Had a very tempting offer from my boss today... the chance to attend a work conference/seminar in Thailand! Naturally I said "wow" followed by "yes".

I'll be going in March for 4 days. These are the kind of things I should be living for, not moping around month after month waiting for the next paycheck.

Payday is next Friday, and is the most important wage slip of my life. I'm determined to put as much into my savings as possible, and start enjoying life.

Total money spent: £10 (drinks)

I've not posted for a few days, but I've not really had much to say.

I can happily tell you I'm still gamble free (it's been 3 weeks now) and get paid on Friday. There are a few expenditures coming up (car tax renewal, passport renewal, possible holiday to pay for) so I need to ensure that not a single penny gets gambled away.

These coming weeks will be very tough.

Hi El

Well done on 3 weeks. It feels great to just stop feeling so cr** all the time doesnt it?

You need to be strong and get past payday without gambling. Dont bother even if you have major urges because you will not win. Winning is like poison as you will want to gamble more and then the cycle starts again and if you lose you lose and start to chase. Whats the point. For me it made it quite simple. The only way Id beat the bookie is to keep my money in my pocket. The only way to win is to not gamble. I hope you can get past it without gambling because you will not feel better that you will this time next month if you have stayed away.

All the best xxxx

Linda

Day 25

Payday is here, and now the real challenge begins. It was nice to see a lot of new money in my bank account this morning, and I absolutely must NOT gamble... I can do this!
