Hi, evening...... im currently on 1812 days gamble free..... 1825 days is the 5 year mark...... half a decade gamble free..... HALF A DECADE WOW thats sounds great to me.
Â
New Diary for the end of 2024 and the start of 2025...... New objectives.... finnish current 2024 objectives..... and move onto a fresh year with new actions.....
Â
What should 2025 be:
Gamble free.....
Alcohol free.....
Smoke free......
Drugs free......
NO VICES......THAT'S THE MAIN AIM
Â
Ill say whether ive achieved all my 2024 objectives on christmas eve...... and write my new objectives for 2025 on New Years Eve.....
Â
Currently im having a tough time with my mental health..... it's injection time on wedsnesday and usually when i get near to it there's a higher chance of voices..... since friday after work on and off ive had voices and trouble sleeping resulting in monday and today off work to sleep in the day time..... ill be back at work hopefully tomo and thankfuly i still get paid for sickness (but hold that thought as ive now had 155 hours sickness in the past 12 months so i reckon thety will start saying no pay for these sick days? well i dont know but ive had a lot).
Â
I've found in recent months as im all or nothing ive been focusing on fitness at gym and steps and some weights...... i have however gotten run down so three weeks ago i called a stop to the gym and just focused on work......
Â
It's given me more rest which has been good and i feel energised......Also i've signed up to Sky entertainment for a 3 pound a month and watched billions again, the penguin, the day of the jackel and a bit of game of thrones.......A long with all of the football as per usual on sky sports...... Also over the last two weeks ive spent 20 hours on gran turismo on my new ps5 driving rig which has also been great.......Also ive managed to dedicate time to my garden, housework, all sorts......
Â
Â
Â
I've got myself some multivitimins to take each day aswell...... to combat the time of year with some vitamin d.....seems to be working.
Â
Work is going well too i wrote about my poem victory and at work we have these surveys called pulse surveys to guage how well the employees see the company and their work and what the think of their managers..... i used to think they were a bit over the top and no one would write genuine critisism about the company.... and that they put a downer on the company...... so four years ago late at night i worte a comedy survey poking fun at the survey, and making fun of some collegues a long with other things...... this went down soo well they got me to make it into a real survey for everyone to fill out...... Since that year every christmas ive done "Adam's Porter Pulse survey" posted it out and reported on my findings in a comical way...... I do this in my own time and last week i spent four hours doing this years one...... I think it raises the spirits .....even if it gets those colleagues away from their stressful jobs for 5 mins and makes them laugh once i think its worthwhile.
It's safe to say my life hasn't been easy, but who's is ......anyone says that life is easy is lying or just hasnt got to their tough stage yet......I like to think when im retired and have even more time......ill still be on this site and can read this diary.....all these diaries ive had and look back and think wow what a journey hopefullyb a huge success story......all the best adam xxx
This was a goal for this year:My ultimate goal is to not be overweight on the bmi this would be me weighing 80 kgs or less.......now i cant see this ever happening but its a goal......
Â
For this first month i would like to weigh and stay at that on 89 kilos or under........
Â
by end of feb....
Â
In order to bo this....ill go for walks at weekends. ill do 15 mins of exercise vid each day when i get back from work after a sit down coffee.......
Â
I ll aim to eat more eggs, porridge and pasta all great more energy....
Â
Any tips anyone has pop in thread....the more the merrier on here.....
Â
Lets do this lets make 2024 that great year we achieved our dreams.

Adam, half a decade. Absolutely incredible mate. Always enjoy seeing your progress. Look forward to seeing how you finish 2024 and what you have planned for 2025.
5 years gamble free and you still come to the chatrooms most nights and offer support to others. Inspirational stuff mate. I love the fact you continually challenge yourself too. Just goes to show what can happen when you free up all the time that used to be consumed by gambling.
I love the fact your planning for 2025. I've never looked toward a new year with anything but trepidation but this year is different. Quitting gambling has opened my eyes to a whole new world of adventure, challenge and opportunity. I can see you are already enjoying that.
Keep up the great work mate. The forum needs stories like yours.
Stay strong 👍Â

Â
Ive fallen off the tracks with regards to exercise and when i was sick i didnt do anything resulting in last week a total of 40k steps (my lowest in a long while).....
Â
Lets get back on track.....like to do some weights in gym and ill take my swim shorts and go in health suite....

ooo sweet it copied and pasted...... So here's my fitness spreadsheet i created...... each day i input how many steps ive walked and it calculates how many miles it is...... then i input the number of times ive been to the gym, health suite and played tennis..
Â
At the mo ive walked on average for the first 8 months almost 6 miles a day every day......ive been to the gym 14.5 times on average a month..... so almost every other day..... and i started off going to the health suite and playing tennis a lot but that fell on the way side so in an effort to bring that up im playing tennis with my day 2 times this week and ill go to the health suite as im off and hopefully itll be nice and quiet.
So far in the 8 months ive lost 4 kgs and kept it off....... ive been stuck on the 86 kg mark for three or four months now and it kinda cuts my enthuasism for the regime as im not reducing my weight..... however people say im gaining muscle thru my gym work and the weight loss should platou for a few months then will start and to lose... we wil see.... Â
Â
In the mirror my upper body looks a lot better now..... man boobs are now after a workout more like pecks and my stumach is soo much better than it was back in february.
Â
My weight, fittness and strength and health is the main objective to improve thru 2024...... I've stopped all vices and its the main thing that ive (over my mid life) not been able to achieve...... so im very thankful to my friends and family who have helped a lot thru the year in order to get me into this shape and successfully achieve another annual objective.....
Â
Thru half of this year i also got an app to monitor my calories, fruit, vegatables intake and monitor it against my calories expenditure thru exercise...... This really helped kick start my diet.... and nowadays i dont use the app but am more aware of what i should be eating. I started off by eating ommlettes, bolognese with veggies in, jacket potatoes, pizzas on tortillas(or whatever they are called), and eating less bread, a long with less crisps.
Â
Nowadays ive gone back to frozen meals (mainly due to trying to get down to 100 pound a month spending on food for the year...... but i still have mash rahter than chips and beans or carrots to make more healthy. With this in mind ive spent 107 pounds a month on food for the year which has saved me 50 pounds a month on last year and 75 pounds a month on the year before.
Â
Â
This year i tried to pay more of my debt off and have earnt 14500, spent 5900 on living, then spent 1760 on my entertainment (including a ps5 (350) six years playstation plus paid upfront (510) games (170) external hardrive (80), vr2 (330), steering wheel (170), gaming seat (150) and my internet and all streaming services (530) so 6840 went towards my debt this year!!!!! woop money well managed i thought and money put towards some great fun and entertainment for friends and family to play when they come over.
I really feel that when i came to gamcare, my whole life was a mess...... i smoked, drunk alcohol, drugs, gambled, went to pubs most nights, didnt exercise, was overweight, didn spend enough time with family or enough of a mixture of friends.....my life really was a mess...... but starting my diaries on here and creating spreadsheets for my finances really opened my eyes to my life, my health and what i needed to be to live longer and contribute more towards society, friends and families lives...... Gamcare and these diaries have really helped....i must sound soo cocky, over confident and a bit of a baffooon but i like to write what im thinking about and if it comes accross as that and boring then apologies but i guess its my personal story so thats the way itll stay.... personal!!!.
Â
All the best Adam
Well i managed it..... 5 years gamble free today.....woop.....just looking at my finances and im in a great position now.....ill continue on this path....this road towards a great future.......a happy fullfilled retirement....many thanks to everyone on here for the support..... all the friends and mods who have helped i can't thank you enough.....all the best adam xxx
