I never socialise when I have just gambled my money away, I pay interest on larger debts rather than clear them early and I always have a well stocked food cupboard. Unhealthy eating is probably a negative of not gambling.
Yeah the monetary side of things is always going to come into it but I think there is always going to be a social or health side that is up there as a major positive as well.
I noticed a massive difference at work as well... I thought I hated my job but it was probably just because it was getting in the way of my gambling.
