Hi

Thanks for the post it's much appreciated and always remember when u post on someone else's diary ur doin a great thing giving them hope and support

Been 3 weeks since my last bet previously went 8 months my reasons were stress in life goin through a divorce , not facing up to the problem , also my mind tried to trick me into thinkin I could control gambling , that theory is now laid to rest , it's a learning curb our recovery if we mess up the key is to realise quickly and get back on track

Plan ur days esp pay day put as many blocks in place even now I still get the urges when just paid , all u can do is what ur doin right now one day at a time post daily good or bad remember we're all here to help

Stay strong ur doin great

Hi Baljit

You were saying in previous posts about how gambling for you feels like a drug...like stopping any drug...,you have to make the leap and go cold turkey.

Thats the only way you are going to stop.

Its going to be scary for you but you will be off this rollercoaster where you are sick and tired all the time.

Are you sick and tired of loosing? or sick and tired of gambling?

R and D x

ps..it does'nt matter about spelling so long as you post and make a committment to recovery.....it's not an exam... ; )

I do understand what you are going through. This gambling lark really is sick and you obviously want to stop this madness.

But you really, really do have to get those blocks in mate.

Lol... Baljit, I not read much of your diary mate but what I have read I really dont know what to think of it. Anyway's for what it's worth good luck.

I think you need a kick up tha A**., Do you understand what blocks are for? I cant recall one post you say I am going to cancel my accounts. If you really want to do this that is the first step for you my friend.

You really need to get to GA also, I have never known a bad as gambler as you. Lol.

Keep going Baljit and lets hope it's not DAY 1 tomorrow 🙂

Hi Baljit ..

Baljit I am wondering if you are socialising with friends who gamble but who ,unlike you, see it as just fun and don't have the same responsibilities as you...I'm wondering if you are still gambling for fear of not wanting to loose your friends?

Baljit,

You posted on my diary saying I was wrong, this is not a wind up, and also that you wanted advice.

I've been following these diaries for nearly a year and a half now (longer than my diary), and you keep popping up and saying the same thing every three or four months or so. Maybe you are genuine, but throughout this diary many people - and I've read all 70 pages, so I know what i'm taliking about - offer you excellent advice, which you rarely acknowledge, and never act upon. If you're genuine, and you're really, really serious about stopping, even if just for (say) 6 months, you need to pull yourself together and actually do some positive things to make stopping easier. Here's just a few suggestions:

1. MOST IMPORTANT - ask the betting shop to ban you. It's called self-exclusion. If you're too embarrassed to say it, why not write a note and go in and give it to them?

2. If you gamble online, you can self-exclude quite easily from these without talking to a 'real' person

3. Restrict your available money. Only you know how you could do this, but, for example, leave your cards and cash at home when you go to work or go out at night. You could even cut up your cards, so that you have to go to the bank in person every time you want some money.

4. If you're going to use this site, at least respond to the people offering you advice. try to keep the diary going for a few weeks, and write more about your state of mind - if you gamble, what made you do it? Is there a trigger? Write about good times and bad times.

You can start by acknowledging this in your next post. Are you going to do any of the above?

Milkman has said everything that I wanted to say. You would do really well to read his post very carefully and act upon it.
