still been good have not done any horses or dogs and roulette machine but l did go in today Wed and do lrish lottery which you can only do in bookies, i did £9.50 0n that which is good for me because normally . l lose £400 OR £600 on horses or roulette machine. l what some advise is it still ok to do lottery and football when it starts in Aug but l will keep my limit to £10.00 per week on both lottery and football no more than that l will not go back to my old ways blow all my wages
keeping giving me advise it does help a lot thank to you all
Congratulations on a positive week Baljit!
My advice would be that it is very dangerous to regularly put yourself in the path of temptation. You might go into the bookies only intending to put a bet on the football, but if you have a weak moment while you are in the bookies you will be back to square one.
You talk about having very little control over your gambling, regularly spending £100's in one go. What has changed in the past week that makes you think you have control over your gambling now Baljit?
My advice would be dont go into a bookmakers at all for a very long time.
I wish you luck,

Morning Baljit,
Good to see you posting and well done on your recovery so far.
Your question regarding gambling on the lottery and football. My view, for what's it's worth is that only you have the answer to that question. Are you able to control your gambling urges whilst in the bookies? Ask yourself Baljit...and be truthful....are you choosing to continue gambling on the football and lottery because you want to leave the door open for other froms of gambling? In the end Baljit the decision is yours. Only you know what you want to do.
If you are interested Baljit....for me......I cannot put any form of gambling temptation in my way....and that includes the lottery. Thing is Baljit I am a compulsive gambler and I have absolutely no control over it. For example, if I did the lottery and lost then that would trigger a gambling streak. I just can't put myself in that position. I've lost too much already.
It's your call Baljit but from what I've learnt from here a compulsive gambler is always a compulsive gambler. We learn to control ourselves but we never get better.
Take care of yourself Baljit and continue to post on your diary.

hi baljit
I tried to convince myself i could walk into a bookies and just place a £5 football bet on a sat afternoon. Of course it didnt work. I was drawn to the roulette machines so easily. you try to tell yourself, ooo £10 wont do any damage, but it does, because lose the £10, u start to chase, if you win, you want more. Of course its your recovery and i wish you all the best, but my advice, if you are serious, STAY AWAY FULL STOP!.
l have been 5 days free of no bets got paid today and some old thing lost £25.00 then tried geting it back and lost £145.00 then said no way l am going to end losing all my bill money and rent money l am glad l stopped lt is best not to go in any bookies normally l would have given more but this site is helping me!
we work hard what for it will be day 1 on sat 25th July
l what to do this l felt so low down today what for
sorry to hear you have fallen a little. is there any way you can have your wages paid into someonen elses account
Hi Baljit,
Well done for posting and being honest about what has happened. So, the good thing is you didn't blow all your wages and another good sign is that you stopped yourself from chasing your losses. It's all about damage limitation now Baljit. Hang on to your £100.....is there anything else you can do in your spare time to take your mind off gambling?
I also agree with I can do it......is there anyone who can take control of your money for you.....just until you get a little stronger. Have a think Baljit.
You are doing well........just take it a day at a time.

Well done for realising what was happening before it was too late Baljit!
You are learning from your mistakes, and making great progress. A compulsive gambler does not free himself of his compulsion overnight. With sustained effort, you can do it Baljit!
You have already come so far in the past month or so.

Baljit,
Well done for being honest about your slip. Its not easy to do.
Has your slip made you think that maybe you need to stop all forms of gambling? Do you think it shows that you find it hard to control your gambling, and one football bet may lead to more?
Please tell us about what you have learned from your slip.
Important for your recovery to learn from mistakes.
Take care,
f x
