I'm glad you are back posting on your diary Baljit.

Think about self-excluding for the bookies.

Try to be strong, I'm thinking about you and wishing you well. You can do it!

Im glad you have learned from your slip Baljit. You are making wonderful progress, and learning more about why you gambled every day.

Everytime you learn from your mistakes, you are even BETTER equipped to beat your addiction.

I agree with Jasmine. I think it would help to prevent any further slips, by self-excluding from the bookies. Do you think it would help to do this?

You asked how many days I've been bet free, its now 40 days.

Try not to focus too much on how long other people have managed - focus on your own recovery one day at a time.

Take care,

f x

Baljit

Time - Place - Money

Time - make a plan of things you can do instead of gambling, like reading, going for a walk with your wife, go to church and pray..whatever, just have a plan.

place - self exclude from the bookies

money - be honest with yourself and your wife and let her look after the money and the bank cards

You obviously cannot have money, same as me..I let my man look after my money when I first stopped gambling.

If you cannot be strong enough by yourself you need to put barriers up to help you.

That is of course if you want to be helped and if you really want to stop gambling.

I wish you well

God Bless

Charly

i know everyone is different but i have read through this entire thread and near enough every post you say the same thing, you have gambled everyday and need to stop.

you need to stop going into the bookies first of all, you need to self exclude yourself from both the shops and online.

i decided to stop around the same time you did, i had my last bet on roulette machines on june 21st, and havent been on one since.

i have placed the odd horse bet but nothing major - but the main way i help myself is by purely not going in the betting shop.

if you truly want to stop then this is something you should do, otherwise every couple of days you will come back on and it will be the same story.

Hi Baljit

If you have really had enough of being sick and tired of this craziness you will start to stop it. This can be done by barring yourself from your local haunts. By the sounds of things, in my opinion, you still think gambling has something to offer you. Look at the stark facts. Do you end up skint nearly every time you gamble. If the answer is yes, then you need to stop. Contact Netline and they will point you in the right direction in regards of how to start your recovery.

Take care

BALJIT, BALJIT, BALJIT

You are on Freda's diary asking for help. It has all been said to you before. You have to put some work in. I wished I could come and take you and get photos and self exclude you from bookies. I can't and I won't. It is your responsibility. We are all here to help each other. Get self exclusion in tomorrow.

From where I'm standing it sounds like you want to carry on the good points of gambling and lose the bad parts. Trouble is it is the double edge sword you are playing with. They go hand in glove together. Every time you gamble, you will lose even if you have a bigger win than you ever imagined. The only way to beat it is to stop.

Come on make tomorrow the turning point in your recovery.

Take care

Hi Baljit,

In answer to your question, I am dealing with the extremely difficult emotions that I am having. That is how I am staying stopped.

When I am upset and scared, I am crying til my eyes are sore, im talking to people and im getting support from gamcare. Its not easy at all. There is no magic wand. If you really want to give up gambling there will be moments of absolute hell, but it is worth it.

I wish you luck in your recovery Baljit,

Take care,

f x

baljit - try just take it one day at a time... set small goals- get through a day then try for two days. If you have access to cash, give it to some-one to watch for you! not sure of your circumstances but if there is anyone you can talk to about it - then do so. I went to GA and got great help and support from them. It's tough mate - when you want to gamble you just do it and deal with the guilt and self pity and disgust afterwards - then when you want to gamble again these things a disappear from your head!

got to try and face the facts that gambling is ruining your life and continuing to gamble just isn't a way make things better....

hang in there....

all the best

gary
