How are yYOU doing? Staying away from gambling? Thanks for your post on my diary.
DP great to see you back in the real world and trying to do something about the gambling again.
People reading this need to understand that Dark Place was and still is my rock for the past 9 months as we walked the same path of abstinence. He is a truly amazing guy with a great care for his fellow ex-gamblers. DP you're words of encouragement have been an example to follow.
I now hope that you have seen sense in all of this. It's not that you may fall off and slip every now and then it's just the simple fact that gambling will only ever take from us. It gives us nothing but a few quick thrills. The wins are temporary, the losses can be long and painful. There is nothing to gain from it. We taught each other that my friend. You take care buddy. I'll be back to check on you in a few days.

Sounds a wonderful family day - peace of mind returning methinks.

Thank you for those kind words sadg, i feel humbled. Today will be a quiet day and absolutely no gambling, come Tuesday i will be 2 weeks free of this curse. Have a great Sunday everyone, Dark Place
so tomorrow will mark 2 weeks, my blood pressure has lowered ! i am not a monster anymore ! i am calmer ! i am more concentrated at work ! i am i am feeling the benefits of not being under the curse. Have a great week everyone, stay free of the disease ! Dark Place
Day 16 and back in the land of the living, been working hard and no real thoughts of gambling ! if only i could keep in this mind set, i realise there will be several challenges, i am no fool ! been here before.
Spoke to my brother today who is having a nervous breakdown, will be retired early from work at 48 and as his he put it ! its all caught up with him, years of gambling and drinking and just realised what it has done to his family and given them !!!! JUST DEBT and heartache, choked up when he was explaining to me high on medication for his depression. It really does bring it home, we are all human and live behind a veil of deceipt when we are gambling, its a horrible place to be.
I wish everyone strength and the ability to respect themself and families, no one deserves what gambling brings ! I mean no one. Dark Place
Sorry to hear about your bro's struggles. The alcohol and depression make it so much harder to fight this, as I well know. I imagine you've told him about this site. It's so sad that so many of us need to come to an extreme crisis before realizing what we've done. But there's always hope. Don't let the situation make YOU lose your resolve as you seem to be doing so well.
Stay on track now dark place you can treat your brothers problems as a big kick up the back side for yourself, gambling is a horrible mental illness sadly it seems to bring relief and then doubles up the pain so it's very similar to alcohol and drugs wish him well from me mate and stay on track
Take care

Quote about success in life...
He has achieved success who has lived well, laughed often and loved much.
Who has gained the respect of intelligent men & the love of little children.
Who has filled his niche & accomplished his task.
Who has left the world better than he found it.
Whether by an improved garden, a perfect poem, or rescuing a lost soul
Who has never lacked appreciation of earths beauties, nor failed to express it.
Who has always looked for the best in others & given the best he had.
Whose life is an inspiration
Whose memory a benediction.
I wonder where gambling fits in to this ? hmmmm NO WHERE !!!
DP
