Thank you SA. Been a good day today as at work and very busy, plus walking loads ... keeps me busy. I'm going by the philosophy of one day at a time at the moment. We've booked a holiday so have something to also look forward to as well. Still not heard from the counsellor for an appointment, which is a pity as I know from past experience I respond to counselling well. Odd that in previous counselling gambling never came up and was never an issue. Always lurked there in the past but never to the extent in the last six months. Can't pinpoint the trigger so would welcome someone to discuss this with.

Day 7 and I have not and will not gamble.

hi Bluebella33 I am new on here too. Similar problems with the online gambling. it just seems to take hold and unfortunately with the assistance of online banking it is so easy to access our funds. I too have spent thousands in the past year. Money I had put by for things and yes its funny because I couldnt bring myself to spend it on luxury things etc as it felt frivioulous but when i was pressing the spin button online never entered my head how much I was throwing away. All my children are grown up and I live by myself so it has been so easy to gamble but I have lovely grandchildren who all need time which I intend to give them now. I do think there is no real trigger, I think I used it as an excuse to indulge i.e. feeling depressed, tired, under stress, deserved a treat etecetec. any reason really that I could use to make myself feel that it was ok to gamble. We can do this as we are intelligent people who know we are better than this and deserve better, gambling cannot and will not rule our lives!! well don on Day 7 keep smiling x

Way to go Blue, you're doing so well. Your opening post brought a tear to my eye. The spinny thing as your daughter calls it, an innocent view of something so crippling.

You have the blocks in place, so it's time to get on with your life and spend it with your loving family. That will give you far more satisfaction and comfort than a stupid spinny thing ever will!

All the best

Thank you Mask. Yes, a horribly sobering moment when my daughter made that comment, and here I was thinking it was hidden and not that obvious. So glad it's been knocked on the head.

Day 9 and I have not gambled.

Hi Bluebella,

Double figures today and you should be so proud of yourself! Keep making the right choice and gifting yourself your life back! Most importantly - enjoy it, you're worth it

Thanks Sandra

Yes indeedy, 10 days today. Brilliant. Working through the night on the election count so no temptations, but no urges through the week anyway really.

Day 12 and still on track and no gambling. Not so bad this weekend but still find Saturday night the hardest. Also eating too much to use up boredom time. Do you think we gambling types have a low boredom threshold?

Ha, possibly but probably more likely that we just have all the excuses in the world why we gambled! Don't give in to the 'voices' Bluebella & switch to celery if you're worried about over-eating 😉

Congratulations on 12 days 🙂

You are doing great, maybe time to look for a new hobby...NT has a thread for tips for keeping busy & there's some great stuff on there!

Saturday night almost over now & Sunday morning feels so much better in recovery 🙂 Keep fighting - ODAAT

Yeah, don't think the celery is going to cut it ODAAT 🙂 but thank you for the positive thoughts and agreed a new hobby is required. Not quite ready for knitting yet!

Hiya... good to read that you remain gamble free. Like you say, boredom is a trigger for many of us. Finding other things to do is important. I like my running and playing chess and scrabble. It helps.

Keep up the good work... S.A

Thanks S.A ... finding ways to keep busy is hard at times. I thrive at work for this very reason, good at being very busy and productive but rubbish at relaxing after. I suppose that is what the gambling did at an odd level, provide an escape for my mind. I did find it soothing, except for when I lost 4k obviously!

Anyway, the house has never been cleaner or my hair straighter with so much time on my hands!

Day 13 and I have not gambled and not had the urge but I do need a hobby.

Wow Sandra, so it is. Brilliant. So much happier too. Urges still crop up but I manage them.

Woop woop me 🙂
