Day 2

hoping for the 2017 blanket self exclusion to come in to effect.

Barclays Basic bank account enquiries tomorrow.

All debt payments to date go towards paying off rather than just paying for the privaledge.

As long as I don't gamble the debt will continue to reduce

Cancelling bank cards is a nightmare! Cancelled current account ready for cash card to arrive but have a payday loan that needs to go out so had to do bank transfer which requires clearing days! Feeling like everything is against me right now but I will succeed. Feeling determined. They do love to make it hard tho!

Rednow, you are doing briliantly and choosing LIFE this Christmas and all that goes with it. You are on the verge of something very special - a continued, permanent gambling-free future, one day at a time. A very Merry Christmas to you, and here's to your continued success 🙂

Hi Rednow,

Technically, government rules insists that every bank has a 'basic' bank account available, but they don't really like them as they make no money and have very few opportunities to discuss other products. So yes, the process usually is a pain in the a*s, especially as the ID and proof of address criteria are lower.

Nonetheless, they are good once you have them, and I found operating in that way without a debit card to be very helpful for a period. Well done on your progress so far, and keep up the good work. It is possible to beat this, just keep at it.

All the best, Ryan

It's easy to change the routine when there is not much of a routine in place. Last day of full day of dossing before prepping for the new year routine!

Day 19

I haven't gambled for 19 days and OH is taking a break too - does make it easier. Had to order new cash card to make a debt repayment but card now lives in office drawer to keep that triangle closed! Cash card is defo making me more mindful of funds and spending and also noticing when I am stressed and reinforcing coping mechanisms (breathing) and relaxation (baths)
