Day 112

112 days gamble free. w*f does that mean? I do not feel free. I feel locked in a gambling prison cell with no release date. Sometimes I feel strong other days it feel like Day 1 again. Today, I feel like a small bet would make me feel better but its just toxic gambling thoughts. No money. I cannot gamble. Blockers working.

Stay on track pal... just look at the miserable feelings on my diary as I descended back to Day 0 yesterday. You dont want that. Keep the faith.

Thanks Adam and Change. Just feeling a bit down. Luckily, I did not give in to urges.

Day 118

For weeks I have been checking my finances daily, making plans for all money coming in and ensuring too much does not go out of my accounts. Yesterday, I go christmas shopping, I got most presents I needed and then spent way too much on myself. I did not need any of my purchases.

I have not had a gambling problem for the past few months but I have still got a money problem. I should have made a bigger dent in my debts. New years resolution will not be related to gambling this year. I hope to focus on my debts.

I will be debt free in 2016.

I have been going to the gym quite a lot over the past couple of weeks. Its not feeling like a hobby yet, more like punishment.

Day 121

Bad day, not happy. I phoned to find out balance of an outstanding council tax bill and was told it may be increased by around 50% at a later date. I was thinking of paying it off with my extra xmas money I am due soon.

How come it likely to be increased by 50%? Some sort of late payment charge?

Keep chin up pal. Everyone faces bad days and we need to be able to react normally and not run to the arms of the bookies. Keep the faith.

The amount is roughly 50% of what I thought I had remaining. I was told that my current debt was for this years Council Tax till April, I guess they jumped the gun thinking I would not pay. So I dont know if the council have check back through there records and found another bill I am going to call them tomorrow to find out. Debt agency could only say the figure and told me to contact council. Annoyed as I hoped to pay off my only proper debt as CC debts are manageable.

Day 124

Out and about getting last of the Christmas presents today. I realised on the bus home I had not considered going into a single bookmakers at any stage throughout the day. I must have passed loads of them. 🙂

Day 129

No racing today. I guess the bookmakers will be shut. So I am bound to meet my 2nd target of Christmas Day.

In last few days, I have felt I might have a bet on Boxing Day as it is a busy racing day and I have had some success on this day in the past. I always stop gambling at New Year and thought a week of gambling should not be too damaging. However, I keep thinking of my number of days gamble free and I know it is very unlikely I will ever get to 129 again and if I am really going to stop at New Year what is the point. I am not convinced I will never gamble again and I am not sure I want to stop completely.

New target is a full year abstaining from gambling.

Day 131

Watched about 15 mins of a racing programme today and even took a look at the form for some of the big races. I have to admit it was a little fun. I am not even considering having a small multiple bet for a few pound. I only think of large bets. I am no better than I was 131 days ago. Fortunately, I have shifted my money towards debts and I do not have enough cash available. I should be fine if I can get through this week.

Day 137

Happy New Year. A few resolutions for 2016.

  1. No gambling
  2. No debts
  3. No buying items I do not need as I need to concentrate on debts
  4. Keep going to gym

Glad you managed to stay away from the betting this week, unfortunately I was not strong as you, but it's a new year and a new start, your resolutions are great similar to mine but I draw the line at the gym!! Lol probably a good idea to keep a clear head and keep fit but I just don't have the time or energy after working 14 hour days! Good luck for the new year, keep up the good work.

lol

I think you need to find something else to fill the void. I have found things a bit easier since going to the gym. Many thanks.
