Hi Paul
Thanks for your post which was warmly received by me. In fact was touched and honoured to get responses from such a fine bunch.

Hope u make it to ga. As someone else said, I think you would bring a lot and take a lot.

From what I hear, the main thing is to get your Rs down. You don't need to say much or anything for first sesh.

You've identified reason giving as a way of stopping attendance, which is great you've spotted the risk. Now treat as a task to tick off.

As Funkadelic almost said 'free your Rs and your mind will follow'

Sorry you never stepped over the GA threshold last night. I was quite lonely and isolated when I started going to GA. I now have a band of brothers and a couple of sisters I call friends. I often get a call or text not to see if in gambling but a general check in, I've had a few nights out with people I've been invited to others I could not attend. One lad even met his fiancГ© at GA. I suppose what I'm trying to say it's not just all about gambling it's about intergrating with people and you being new to the area it sounds like a no brainier get off your R's and take back control of your recovery.

Hai Deano, that post has saddened me a tad realising you've had your diary deleted. The cloud of addictions make us feel like douche and you my friend is far from one of them ( what's a douche ☺).

I'm guessing your a silver trowel of distinction, just like the man who carries it. My guesses have a knack of being true unlike my tips.

I'll check out the red ga book. Thx

As I've just explained to Louis my phone's not at its best, so posting is difficult. Just a quick flyby to say hi....will catch up soon.

Deano, I'm glad I read your post to Paul. I'd noticed your diary had disappeared at the weekend and to be honest, for one reason or another, I was a bit worried about you. Good to see you hopping about on here and I think I'll have a look at the red book too. What harm can it do eh?

LB x

Ditto ditto Deano. Financially, iv'e not had a hard hit for a while. More like, FFS I could of got......Now, like yourself a vicious circle or state of limbo. I'm kinda recognising what's missing but stuck in the theory side of thinking to much. I'm comfortable during the week, but weekends come and I get the irrational controlled gaming thoughts, but when I cross that threshold, all the control goes to pot... Present thoughts are worthless as also a tad of arrogance that a footie bet is within my control. I do take after my old man and see him have his religious weekly horse acca, I enjoy picking out the footie, even when I'm confident in my abstinence, but knowing I can't, my ego is the predominant voice...

LB.. Hi. A little saddened as swans have gone from 5 to 3, past couple of days. Yet, saw alone duck yesterday in not part of the flowing river and wondered why it was by itself, then in avo saw all her new ducklings.. just thought I would share that on this gambling forum ☺

Hey V,Deano, LB, and myself, we are not bad wicked evil souls, we have become addicted to this hideous addiction that will 100%

control our lives if we let it in, totally relate to what you have just said Deano, about this addiction controlling you, and what it does mentally to us, it makes us believe that we are horrible people. We are not.

Sad to read that you have deleted your diary, you have helped so many folks on here, more than you think.

V a good post from Martin about socialising at GA, you won't know until you try it:)))

LB, Hope you haven't hurt yourself with your phone, remember it's a lifeline too my friend.

United we will all stand, divided we will all fall.

Keep strong and positive my friends and I will do the same.

Safe calm evening for us all

Suzanne xxx

Hope you don't mind me burbling on your thread V.xxx

Suzanne, you honestly put a broad smile on my face when I read your posts. I need to be careful though as I get odd looks in public, when the frown turn upsides down and I get that look " are you smiling at my Mrs "☺

ps.. If the kids are United then you would never be devided. . Sham 69. You reminded me of one of my favourite bands..

Cheers for dropping by earlier V the steak was spot on. i know you a big boy and can take it on the chin so here goes, the post last night as thoughtful as it was meant nothing as it did not have the desired effect.

I'll post this here as my bud Deano has been talking about the red book, I always thought it was orange but hey ho.

Deano as promised I have picked up a pile of literature for you tonight and will pop it in the post tomorrow. If anyone else wants some I will try and pick up some more next week let me know and we will exchange addresses.

I must say up to now my GA recruitment drive has not been very successful, I don't think I have got one person to walk through the doors and give GA a go, good job im not on commission.

Morning, V,

Thanks for your post. Himself has been making a real effort to work on himself for about three months now and it's all so much easier at the moment, long may it last. One thing that he finds helpful to aim for is the definition of a mature person in the Orange Book.

V, you talk the talk, isn't it time to walk the walk? Stop pressing the self destruct button and go to GA, for your own sake. If you don't, who will?

BW,

CW

I hate being told what to do. I think I know better. Thats why GA is about attraction not promotion. Its there when the user wants it

Hey Paul...how's things? Thought I'd call in before the witching hour of the upcoming weekend starts. Any plans for this weekend? Any more thoughts about GA? I'm not pressing you, but as a friend, I'm curious.

You said above to Deano "I'm kinda recognising what's missing but stuck in the theory side of thinking to much." I suppose my question earlier in the week would have been just that...What's missing? What is gambling giving you? I'm going to paste something that Dan said to me a while back. Whether it'll be any use to you or not, I don't know. It helped me...

"Realization of what drives addiction doesn't guarantee freedom from it. What it does do though is put you in a position of choice.I personally believe addiction has very little to do with a rush & if the only way you can find enjoyment or excitement is through the spinning of a reel, then that should tell you everything you need to know about what needs to change. I think you know all this. So, how to find the ongoing motivation for change? To keep moving forward when you feel comfortable where you are? Purpose. Without purpose life has no meaning. As Louis said what are your cote values. What matters to you. Not what you think they should be or what others would approve of. But what is at your true self. If it is a desire to gamble then so be it, knock yourself out, no ones stopping you. But I think you maybe have more to offer than just that. If you have lost or never even found what means something to you, then go bloody find it. There is nothing to fear in looking, perhaps you will find it somewhere you have never wanted to look before."

Have a good weekend. Don't forget to feed our feathered friends X
