Years and years ago when I first started gambling, I found it easier to succumb to gamble when I was not lush with money.

The chasing began.

Now that I have just had some unexpected bonus come in, the next few weeks and months will be the perfect indication to see whether I am older and wiser and not gamble it away.

Should I succumb this time (which I won't!) then this will confirm that greed will have come into play.

I don't want to be labelled as a greedy person.

Many thanks for replies. I am so confused with the more I learn. I thought I was a generous person but on reflection I used my generosity to gain what I wanted. If it had no use to me I would not waste money. Again it was about using money as a tool. Not aure what I'm trying to say but I'm sure someone will unravel my thought process somehow.

Thanks again

Good morning ,

I read what you posted on my thread about riding solo.

I take a lot of inspiration from mark117 journey as he has presently got the better of his 3 main addictions.

You like him have focused on your recovery and are coming out the other side. For that I truly commend you both.

Where you journey leads you now , who knows but you have the tools and the foresight to spot when your addictive side is rearing it head again ( now I have stopped drinking , I am eating a lot of choc, the half packet of biscuits has turned into a full one lol)

I wish you well my friend, when you first joined this site, or years previously when you gave up alcohol this was your goal. You have always said you get that addiction is for life, you have always known that you would have to live side by side it, that seed will lie dormant , unless you feed it.

As you have absolutely no intention of doing that, maybe the time has come to take that giant leap forward and get on with living as dotty wrote recently maybe it is time to take the stabilisers off.

Take care,

Dusty

hiya Smiler....loving that Nelson funny...lol....I totally understand where your at and as you know i'm trying it without stablisers for a while...as they say in AA ...the door swings both ways and if 'im still crashing in a week or so I shall be back typing away....I haven't moved on as such...just moving into the next stage of SARAH ...I didn't know this till Maddie told me..forgive if you know (Shock,Anger,Resentment,Acceptence, and Happiness)... I slipped into acceptance after being stuck for so long in anger/resentment and it came as a result of finding the right "thing" to hand over to HP...my frustration was that I was happy to hand over but did'nt know "what" core thing it was which I do now...so its brought a lot of calm to me as I was flailing in the dark before.

I am still going to read posts and posts to people but the days of long posts from me I think are over..but as I said before...I feel no shame at all in coming back on if I am struggling again...

I have a few people now from here on my facebook and am happy to leave my details for you if you ever should wish...but totally understand and won't take offence if thats not for you.... its not for everyone and sometimes anonymity is part of what makes this work...but you are welcome to my email address if only you want to contact for inspirational book swaps Smiler! lol ...take care and will still keep following your posts Rach and Dotty xxxx

Hi

I was reading something yesterday in overcoming problem gaming that I thought might interest you.

It talks about what do you do with your life when you are at the point where I believe we both are now.

Once you take out the debate about GA it is quite interesting. It is quite long and took me all day to read but defo gave me food for thought.

I have bumped it up to the start as it was on page 50 , and it is called something like what happens after we get there???

You may have read it already, but if not worth a look at if you have the time.

Enjoy what's left of your weekend , I am off to work.

Take care

Dusty

Hi Smiler,

I am feeling the same re posting - I have nothing to report! that is good though, we are on an even keel. Although uneventful, it is real and normal life.

Take care mate,
