Well after getting myself sorted financially (set up on a debt management plan) feeling alot better in myself.
Found myself today with some spare money in my bank/pocket and walking past the bookies. Looked at the odds in the windows and thought hell what would a couple of ВЈ hurt on the football. 20 minutes later and £100 down I came out that same dejected man like so many other pathetic losers.
So after 173 days gamble free I'm back to day 1.
Happy New Year everyone. Got a feeling I may need everyones help to overcome this one.
Hi NMBN,
Nothing can take away the efforts that you put in to master those 173 days. You did those days without gambling, and this shows that you can do it. Well done for the 173days.
Yes, you had a slip, but you did not keep going on with gambling like you may have done before, which shows that you have grown through the 173 days you mastered, and you have got back on the recovery trail, so you are back to carry on the journey. You could take it as day one if you feel you want to, but to remember that the stratergies that helped you achieve the days you achieved worked and so you could go back and pick them, plus you may have also learnt from your slip; what the triggers were that made you slipped, what were the loopholes that were left uncovered? And maybe you can cover these whiles you carry on with your recovery journey.

NMBN, you are not alone ones you are on the forum, and also to bear in mind that slips could be an indication that there was a vulnerability left undealt with, and ones that is brought to your awareness, it could be one more huddle jumped to make you stronger to keep running a better race this time.
Well done for getting back on the wagon.

Hi - so sorry to read you have had this blip after 173 days. You have done fantastic so far. All you can do is pick yourself up and start again. Have you thought about self excluding yourself from the betting shops in your area. Please don't call yourself a looser! You are a person going through a difficult time and have shown great determination so far (besides one day) take care - wcid
At least u know u can make it that far and next time u won't think about betting and not slip into it again ! Good luck this time round !
So 5 days after my relapse, im here and 5 days gamble free.
Walked past the bookies today looked through the door and saw the usual punters sat on the machines. Then realised that was what people saw everytime they walked past me on the roulette, basically throwing money away. I would have been better giving it away in the street.
We can't win because we can't walk away.
So I ended up in a betting shop today. Away from home with work and was bored, had a bit of spare money on me, stupidly thought well one little bet won't hurt. Had a bet on the horses that won. Got carried away put a £10 note on the roulette machine, spun the turn and then had a sudden feeling of failure, 149 days down the drain.
Got off the machine and into my hotel room picked up a book and started reading.
Dissappointed that after 149 days I had that urge to gamble.
So here we go again. Back to day 1.
Affected by gambling?
