Having just joined the forum and lost tens of thousands betting online on football matches over the years I have decided to start a recovery diary in the hope it will help me cope with my addiction. I am sick and tired of the emotional rollercoaster I have been on for the last 15 years and am hoping that this will finally help me quit. maybe I can stop and maybe the future can be brighter.
Hi Chris.
You are right in that for most of us on here, we have certainly been on a rollercoaster of a ride, only coming to an end, when we have "crashed"
Gambling they way we have, certainly does reap havoc on our emotional and physical state. Now that you have joined here and have your own diary and hopefully, put blocks in place, to prevent you from gambling, this will help to ease your mind.
The saying "it gets worse before it gets better" can often be the case, I.e, sorting out our finances/lack of finances, especially the first month after losing all our money. I must add though, nothing can be worse than when we have gambled our last penny away. Hopefully, you making the decision to do something about this, will now mean that things eventually, can only get better.
Take care and remain strong and focused.
Our Lady.
Chris, I'm just a few days into what has to be my recovery, my back is truely to the wall financially, and it's painful at the moment. I'm holding my breath as rent that should be paid by now won't be paid until 25th. It's going to take months to get back on my feet from a cash flow point of view and then years to pay off associated debts. This is just from almost 2 years of online slots. You can do this. A line must be drawn emotionally and losses written off. I can't say much more as it's early days for me too but keep checking back and posting on here, especially at weekends when I guess the temptation must be high. There will be a lot of people posting to support you so make full use of it. I wish you all the very best and always remember you are not alone in this. There are a lot of us out there experiencing the same. Chin up and forward
