Hello,

I have always enjoyed gambling and while lately I had been going more often, I was somewhat safe because it was four hours away.  Well, someone introduced me to online gambling and since then I have been online every day spending several hundred dollars. Before that, I was always pretty good with my money and had money in between checks but now that's not the case and it's only getting worse. I don't want to end up destitute. I own my home but have bills and would like to be able to keep paying them.  I need some support.

Hi,

Well done for coming on here, you can get a lot of advice and support.

If you really want to stop, you need to put the blocks in place - GamBan so you’re unable to access the slot websites from your device. You also need to grab hold of any bit of help you can get. Could you talk to someone about it? Talking will take a huge weight off your shoulders and make you feel like you’re not alone.

Believe me, it will get worse. I ran up tens of thousands of pounds in my husband’s name because I would find any way possible to gamble. Even if you wait for that big win, it will just all go back again because you’ll want more, then the cycle continues.

I’m now almost 19 months gamble free. It can be done and you can beat it.

Best of luck,

Claire x

Sign up to GamStop straight away. It is free and will self exclude you from and stop you from being able to sign up to all UK licensed online casinos. Don't dance around it with choosing a period and just select the 5 year auto renewal option.

Also download GamBan which GamCare offer to pay for through partnership and select 5 years. This will stop access to any and all online gambling sites/apps completely (including the foreign ones not covered by GamStop)

If you wish to or must occasionally gamble then you can still visit your casino that is 4 hours away but as for online it's dangerous and best to just do away with before it has its chance to sink the hooks in and cause you some real financial hardship.

If you don't do these things I guarantee we will see you back on here in future posting in a much worse situation.

Hope this helps!
