well, after a few good runs gamble free, including a previous record of 105 days I have today failed in the worst way imaginable!

My vice has always been the fobts, and today I posted into it every penny I could physically get my hands on!!

This led to a loss just shy of £500 and leads to a major issue as pay day is a month away!!

I'm hurting, and I know I was stupid but I just wish I had stronger will power.... I don't need losses like this, especially at Xmas!

Well..... the best block is now in place (zero funds available) and I hope to god I can get back to the 100+ days I once hit!!

Wish me luck

Hey, thanks for the positive response, I'm gamble free for 4 days now and I'm not missing it at all!!

Probably as it's still raw, but I think it might have been the loss I needed, as I'm confident I can beat it now.

Let's see how far into 2017 I can go....... my plan is to treat myself to a little something each month I make it gamble free, plus I'm due to marry in 2017 so it's all to look forward to 🙂

Well I've made it to day 6 with minimal urges so long may it continue.

I have managed to get all my money straight today and am now debt free going forward. If I can keep this up I might be able to treat myself on pay day 🙂

Hi n22cks,

I’m sorry to hear of your relapse after abstaining for a good 105 days, however, it seems like you’ve taken an immediate and the necessary steps in the right direction by placing blocks in place, and by carrying no money with you in order to avoid being tempted to use it for gambling.

Much as we all wish you to stay gamble free, the reality is that, relapse occur sometimes but, that shouldn’t put you off from trying again.

With such determination and effort that you put in to stop yourself from gambling, hopefully, you’d be able to achieve your aim of becoming a gamble free person.

Thanks for sharing your story, and my best wishes to you for your recovery. Please keep posting.

Kind regards,

Beatrice

What i don't hear is any sign of additional blocks like counselling or GA meetings? You not ready for all that?

Hi triangle, I have tried GA in the past, it is helpful but I would struggle to attend due to work commitments now. I'm going to continue down the route of not carrying cash, as it has worked previously for me. I'm hoping this time I'm strong enough to overcome my last target of 105 days. I'll keep posting to update you all of my progress.

Thanks everyone for reading and your comments

Hi

I'm in the same situation as you. A long period of abstenace and then a major blow out. I like the idea of treating yourself each month. I wish you well in your recovery and a very happy 2017. We can beat this demon.

Stay Strong. Mark

You should defo self exclude from all the shops there are at least 60 shops within a 5 mile radius of my house. And i self excluded from everyone of them. And even though you dont know where they all are, if you self exclude from the ones you know about, by the time youv figured out and travelled too a new one you've had time to think about what your doing.

Hi n22cks. What's the plans for when you beat your 105 day target this time? I agree you need to put all the necessary blocks in place like self excluding from the shops etc. as if you are serious about this then there is no need to leave these avenues open.

All the best

Awe keep going I'm confident you can back those 100+ days again . Good luck this year on your wedding but about of advice put the necessary steps in place as a backup i highly recommend self excluding from every shop and online outlets. It's too easy to slip backwards without them in place and I'd hate to see you relapse again s free time the losses will be harder to lose an leave yourself going deeper and deeper in debt trust me I've been there and lost everything including my marriage . So I would hate for you to take a wrong turn make 2017 a good year for you and here's hoping it's gamble free xx
