Thank you for your support and kind words on my diary. I realy do try to be positive every day and I know you do too - but goodness me it was like being slapped around the face with a wet fish yesterday. There was me ticking along nicely, actually feeling a bit of a fraud as hadnt had many urges and my recovery seemed to be going quite easy compared to others, when out of the blue with no prior warning came this awful feeling of wanting to gamble.

I know we both managed to use our pre planned strategies to stop us, which is the thing i will learn most from yesterday, i cannot say what would have happened if i hadnt been prepared (even if it was subconsciously!). The triggers, we know what they are and where they lead us, but sometimes they are beyond our control.

Well we survived and are still moving onwards, well done to you too!!

Thanks for your continued support my friends 🙂 ....things tickin over nicely since saturdays close shave...in fact today at work a predict the scores world cup sweepstake appeared at £1 a shot....in front of 3 or 4 people i said whats this rubbish and to their astonishment i ripped it up...why was the question and with a great deal of pride told them i dont gamble anymore 🙂 to be honest i surprised myself but it must ve been adrenaline flowing but i was proud of myself to have brushed it away...now thats progress 🙂 ...on relationship front the ex not been well this week and thinks it disgrace that a 13 year old got responsibility for 2 year old whilst she not well.not much i can do wi being on lates but did offer to take a few days off but NO she ll manage...heres me tryin to make ends meet tryin for every overtime i can get (more chance of o/t in afternoons for some reason) yet im made to feel guilty cause im not there so its set me back a few steps in my quest of movin back in then again maybes i should have a major rethink,who knows :-(...got my parents looking forward to comin down saturday yet ive been told if she still not well then they wont be over there...that alone bit stressful for me but ive heard all this before so im used to it...chin up folks today i didnt bet tomorrow i wont bet we can do this 🙂

Hi Post--glad to see that however many knocks you get you still keep bouncing back up and are prepared to take more in pursuit of your goals.

With regards to the sweepstake at work--I think I would have had a go myself as that is something that 'normal non-compulsive gamblers' do and I am still striving to deal with this as part of my life and not the over riding thing in my life. Having said that I know that you feel that complete abstinance is the only way forward for you so fair play for sticking to your guns.

A sweepstake to me would not mean that if I won I would rush back to find the next sweepstake to put all my winnings on whereas there is usually another race or spin of the wheel coming up--which would mean I would want to play again.

Hi wp,interesting regarding the sweepstake,i'm like you in that i wouldn't have had a go,but then again i never had a go in them when i was gambling,i would sometimes pay the money(so as not to be thought of as tight) and tell them to add my winnings to the prizefund.....,i preferred to pick my own losers!!!!.Seems like your going through the mill a bit this week,just stay positive,calm ,and avoid getting sucked into any arguments :),you'll get there in time mate.

Really good last post mate. Loads of problems and knock-backs but yet again 'Mr Positive' comes out in ya. Really good to see. I think that you did really well with the sweep pal, good bet to stay away.

On the ex front, I think your doing exactly the right thing. If you've offered your support but she doesn't want it, then there's not a lot you can do barring getting the o/t in. Don't let her wind you up with the threats that your parents can't go see the grandkids, like you say, your savy to those games now, don't let them rile ya. In all reality she may be just looking to take out her mood and frustrations on someone, because she's under the weather. Anyway, stay cool like the Fonz, Aaay!!

Yeah i agree with what Steve has said ,yet again things are not going great and you still remain positive.Like you say m8 you get used to the way women act and theres a few days yet until the weekend your ex could change her mind several times yet lol.

Thank you my friends...Interesting post from stumper today....i have always stated from day 1ish that these diaries are not g.a and that gamcare encourages responsible gambling therefore anyone doin lotto,raffles,sweepstake s etc. Is hardly problematic...personally for now i am continuing to refrain from these as i still feel quite vulnerable to any form of gambling...i am getting to the stage now whereas should i have a punt i will not only be letting myself down but you great people supporting my progress on the diaries..the longer this goes on the stronger hopefully i shall become and that has to be a good sign....relationship wise got text tonight tellin me to cancel my parents trip down this weekend as she still not well...Doesn't surprise me as this has happened before and the weekend is still a few days away so im not tellin them and stressing myself oot as yet :- ...today i did not bet tomorrow i wont bet.keep smiling folks we can do this 🙂

Hi wp,i'm sorry to read that you are feeling emotional and stressed out because of the lack of response from your ex,remember though that your Mum & Dad are coming down to see you(much loved Son) as well as the bairn!!!.....,try to remain as calm as possible.Take the chance to have a good heart to heart with your parents,don't hold back......,tell them everything that worries you,if nothing else talking things through with them will maybe help you see things in a different perspective :).It's hard for you at times wp,but you've shown great strength of character these last 5 months,be proud of what you have achieved!!!.
