Hi and well done. It is great to hear you have done so well. I came on here back in May, had my ups and downs but things are going well. Still get urges but have safety measures in place. So it gives me encouragement to know this forum has helped both you and me with all the support we get. Heres to another six months gamble free. Joy x

What a man!! 6 months gamble free - that even sounds good to me!! I cannot wait until I get to that point - February 2007 (seems miles away). However, you've made it - well done mate!! Now for the YEAR.

All the best

Hi Jim, a belated but heartfelt congratulations on reaching the six month marker mate. That's a top achievement and a marker I'm sure you'll keep on extending.

Thank you all for your messages of support and congratulations.

I am pleased to be entering my seventh month gambling free but I also realise that I am just one bet away from throwing that away, just like I did before, after three years of staying away from the bookies. So I must keep my guard up and not let complacency slip in.

It does get easier as time goes by, but I also believe that it gets easier to forget why we are doing this too.

The memories of the debts slip away, the pain we caused to ourselves and others starts to dull..The feeling of dispair dissapears.

All these are good things but they can also make your resolve weaken a bit.

Thats why I find it useful to log on here and read my and other peoples diaries. It reminds me of how I felt.

I some times cry when I read the problems that compulsive gambling causes people, both for them and the family and friends that love them. It helps me recall the feelings I felt, the feelings my family must have felt as I slowly but surely put us all through hell.

I know that life can be different now, stopping gambling does not mean that life is going to be rosy and wonderful, but it does give me a chance to try and achieve that.

anyway, enough rambling for tonight, take care all and stay strong.

Well done mate. At least a nice part of the world to give up gambling!

Says it all really 3 years without a bet and then have to rebuild again.

Although I am well behind u - this just reinforces my acceptance that I can never have access to cards/significant cash again.

Thanks - All the best.

Hi Jim, just catching up with the forum. You are ahead of me and it is great news to hear you are doing so well. It took me a few months of slip ups but when I got over those hurdles I realised my life was much better without gambling and the stress it caused. So well done and raising a glass to the next six months Joy x
