My wife went away for a few days today, gone to visit our daughter.

Feels a bit strange to be without her.

although I dont feel like betting I am glad that I have the self exclutions in place at all the bookies in my town. It was at times like this i used to jump at the chance of being able to spend all day in the bookies without fear of getting caught.

Now days I never want to step foot in one again.

Hi Jim

Hope you enjoy your weekend. Maybe it will give you time to catch up with something around the house you have been putting off for weeks.

Always good to read your post, keep up the good work

what a disaster!

My wifes car has broken down over 300 miles away from home, cant be fixed until next tuesday. going to have to leave the car up there while my wife tries to get back via train, then i will have to go back up there next week after the car has been fixed to pick it up and drive it home.

Its all costing us a small fortune and causing so much stress.

Life is the pitts sometimes

oh jim

you dont need that in your life do you??

but, i am sure that when you get this all sorted out that you will be really happy with how you coped with the whole thing.

also, if you had been gambling, would you have had the cash available to pay for the train fares and to pay for the car.

sometimes we need to be thankful that thorn bushes have roses rather than complain that rose bushes have thorns

today is a good day, and i am living every moment to my ful potential

Hello Jim

"b****r" as the australians say.

But it is something to focus the mind on other than gambling. Carol Ann is right, you might not have had the train fare if you had not stopped gambling. We have to look for the good in every situation, however difficult.

best wishes

Rosemary

thanks for you support girls.

Getting things sorted. the garage "up north" is going to repair the car and hold on to it until i can get up there to pick it up. there is a train tonight from there to here so jackie will be able to get home after visiting our daughter.

all in all a very expensive weekend but as you both say it would have been worse if i let the stress get to me and shoot off to the bookies.

you just watch torquay united lose today as well...just to cap off a bad day!!

Anyway i am still smiling and still gambling free so things aint so bad.

Jim

Just another little hurdle mate - but one you will be able to look back on at some stage and say "Blimey, I even managed to get through things like that".

Keep smiling - having passed through this adversity - you will come out th eother end stronger and better.

All the best

Well I have my wife back. Car is in a garage still "up north". waiting for a phone call to say I can collect it and how much it will cost.

Spent most of the weekend creating a computer room in our house in between trying to get jackie home.

All in all a very busy, stressful weekend but got through it all without gambling and I am thankful for that.

Life may not always be good without gambling but it is always a better place without it than with it.

Jim

Glad to hear that at least the problem is solved - notwithstanding the obvious financial burden - however, think if you were still gambling. You'd probably have no money to get the car!!! Take this as another hurdle to overcome that you will safely negotiate. Then, when you come through this you will be even stronger!

All the best

hi Jim

Life may not always be good without gambling but it is always a better place without it than with it.

good quote there jim, i for one enjoyed playing poker, but it took a while to realise its not good for me because i cant control it. i would still love to play, but know its not going to do me any good so stay away. nice little 'pause for thought' there 🙂

glad you got over a stressful weekend without gambling, its easy to say 'sod it' and start gambling when life decided to throw its baddies at you, but good on you for staying focused and strong

take care

AJ

I know what you mean AJ. i would love to be able to spend an afternoon in the bookies and just stick to betting what i can afford to lose. But I know i cant do that, I just get so compulsive and bets get bigger and bigger. I have to stop completly, its the only way for me. I wont even buty a raffle ticket anymore as I am scared that it may lead me back to the way I was.
