Hello Jim

BLOW IT LOUD AND CLEAR, that is a fantastic achievement.

Hi Jim, sorry to hear about your 'drama'...but as AJ says, good point well made!!

Totally understand what you mean about being unable to control it...the vital stage in recovery, in my humble experience, is realising that we cannot control it, something has 'broken' and we are not like other people. Recognising it, then doing something about it.

And hey, all hail the hero, 4 months is a brilliant achievement, I've never managed 4 months since realising that I have a problem, so I look forward to hearing more about it and as ever, I aspire to it!!

Best wishes and congrats,

O

Jim

Borrow a megaphone - stand on the tallest building you can find and then bellow at the top of your voice. 4 MONTHS is nothing short of inspirational!!

I'm following you and on December 8th I hope to be saying the same - Keep that megaphone I'll need to borrow it!

Well done

All the best

Hatch

thanks guys

the support I recieve on here is amazing...I find it such a big help in staying gambling free.

We are all here for one reason only and that is to find some help to stop gambling. I have found the help that i needed right here in these forums. I try to read and write a little bit each day.

All of your stories help me, they remind me of why I am giving up. they strengthen my resolve to not bet again, for today anyway. I try to take it one day at a time and not too look too far in the future.

If I can come on here and say that "today i never had a bet", then that is good enough for me. the days slowly build up into weeks, months even years without me hardly noticing...just taking it one day at a time.

Belive me Jim, it's mutual...the more you help others like us, the better you feel, and the more you tell us about your successes, the better we feel.

Well I am off to collect the car tomorrow as it is now fixed. Not looking forward to it at all. a boring four hour train journey followed by a boring five hour drive back home.

Still its gotta be done and at least i get to see my daughter for a few hours whilst i am "up north", so it wont be a wasted day after all.

And as I am not wasting my money and time down the bookies anymore, I can afford both the time and the money to get my car back home.

Life without gambling really is so much better than with it.

Hi Jim

A journey UP north is never a waste. They happen to be good folk up there, and i'm sure you know that. What have you got to occupy your time on such a long journey?

Glad your car is fixed now though after last weeks incident.

All the best mate.

You must be 4 and a bit months now.

WELL DONE!

Magic

I am actually from "up north" myself..but dont tell any one..lol

On the whole it was a good day today..Train journey was ok. It was good to see my daughter again and the car journey back was great. Both the m6 and the m5 were as clear as a bell, hardly any traffic at all. Bombing along with the Kaiser Chiefs blaring out of the cd player full blast, I actuall had a great time.

When I stopped at the services for refreshment I found myself watching some guy pumping coin after coin into a fruit machine. the look on his face was just how I looked when I used to frequent the bookies. felt sorry for the bloke but was so glad it wasn't me anymore.

just loafed about all day yesterday, didn't do much at all. It's ok to have a lazy day every now and again I think.

Back to work this morning, so enjoy the rest of your bank holiday people and stay gambling free.
