It great the way we remember how great the simple things in life are, when we're recovering. Seeing people make the mistakes you did kinda makes you more thankful that you're not gambling anymore, doesnt it?

Anyway keep up the good work and enjoy work.

Been lapsing on my diary recently and to me that means lapsing on my recovery.

I have had a lot on my mind (nothing to do with gambling) and I guess I was starting to become complacent again.

I should know better as i know where complacency takes me (it got me back to gambling after three years of abstinance) and I refuse to go there again.

Stopping gambling is vital to me as I know that it will destroy me if I ever go back.

So no more complacency from me....I am back and still on the recovery road.

Oh and what I had on my mind was wether to take my boss up on an offer to go to nigeria to see how an elephant charity that i raise money for is going.

It might seem daft to worry about a free trip to africa, but this aint staying in some hotel, its staying in some local guys house in a little hut in the middle of the jungle, no running water, electicity, toilets, etc.

Anyway I have decided and on november 26th i shall be jetting of to Lagos and then into the jungle for a week! Gulp

Hi Jim

Exciting times ahead of you eh?

Friends of mine recently returned from their honeymoon in kenya.

They shared there video diary with us, and to be honest i thought my how am i going to make myself look interested for the next 2.5 hours.

How wrong was I !!!

Some elephants had found there way to a watering hole just a few feet away from my friends, and it was amazing to see these beautiful creatures "hosing" each other down

playfully.

Im kind of envious of you Jim, i hope you have a GREAT time, an experience to treasure for always.

Nice to see you back Jim

Take Care

STAY STRONG

Kim xx

Hey Jim, good to read about your exciting life!

Africa, eh...gosh, that sounds really exciting. Look at it this way, no elec, no running water, no toilets...at least there's no bookies or online gambling!!

That should be one hell of a trip mate, enjoy it. And I know what you mean about needing to guard against complacency, but you have a lot of experience of this, so use it to help stay clean.

Best wishes Jim,

O

Hi all

Good day at work today, managed to train a tapir to go into a crate ready for transporting to a different zoo.

No gambling or more importantly no urges to gamble so everything is well.

Still scared about my Nigerea trip though, but as olly says at least i wont be able to gamble in the jungle!

Oh my god Jim!, an opportunity of a lifetime.

You know how some people say that swimming with dolphins changes their lives? well imagine walking with elephants, hope it gives you a new insight.

Have a great trip.

Best wishes

Not too much to report to day..just a normal day at work, still I guess a "normal" day is a good day, after all it is what I am striving to achieve.

So Heres to lots of "normal" days to come, far better than the highs and lows of the days I had when gambling.

Hi Jim, isn't normal nice when it does not involve putting yourself through the mill at the bookies? I'm sure that is what a normal day would have been for you back in March of this year. I know it was for me.

Keep up the good work.
