The last eight years of gambling have really taken it out of me and caused a lot of pain. Ive lost track of my number of previous attempts but am now minutes away from day 42 and feeling quite pleased to have gone this long. I havent posted a diary before but have read many over the last few weeks and they are really helpful. Best wishes.

Hiya

A massive well done on the 42 days that's a fantastic effort after 8 years of gambling, adjusting after that amount of time is always goin to be difficult so starting a diary is a great idea

Support is vital goin forward been around people who do understand what ur goin through will only help u more and help u clock more gambling free days up but more importantly not let complacency play any part in ur life something that creeps up on u when u least expect it

Wish u well in ur recovery

Hi Castle2, many thanks for posting. I know what you mean about becoming complacent. A few months ago i managed two months, then had a major relapse and spent six months worth of earnings in two days. The money can just be added to my existing debts as im used to being in debt now but the feeling was terrible. That's why i wont be gambling again. It doesnt matter how often i think of gambling now because its pointless as it simply isnt going to happen. Roll on Friday and another g free weekend.

Important reminder: Consequences of my gambling over the last few years. Have continued to gamble since all of the below even with national self exclusions from all establishments, ga, councelling and no cash card. Most importantly why my decision not to gamble again under any circumstances is final.

- Home sold and lost

- Business lost

- Huge debt accumulated

- Hmrc officers arriving in vans to take my "assets" of which i didnt have any

- Friends and family lost

- Job lost

Day 48. It's not gonna happen today or tomorrow. If fact it's not gonna happen so might as well forget about it. Need to plan something enjoyable for next month, something to look forward to.

Massively honest posts mate. Hope u r doing well. I too have massive debts that I would continue to add to as if I can gamble my way out of it. I am sure that's y u did it. And the lack of reality whilst In the zone of win lose win lose. Lose lose lose. We always lose. Even the best gamblers lose. We just don't tend to hear about it.

Hope u continue the abstinence.

Day 59. No gambling and no intention of doing so. Been drinking quite a lot recently, time for a week off.

62 days. Been getting urges recently, strange as last time i made it to two months and s**t hit the fan. Regardless it's not gonna happen now, especially with christmas and new year just around the corner. The themes and mysterious wonders of the machines arent foolin me today.

Hi last chance

Good to read your blog and congrats on getting the keys to a new place!

I'm on day 30 but haven't seen any financial changes yet which is so hard to accept but I know the only way I ll ever see long term changes it's to not gamble.

Just out of interest, now your through the first two months, how do u keep setting targets to stay away from gambling? I feel great atm but the elephant in the room is that at any time I fear I could slip.

Keep up the good work mate

Stu
