Toad - 14 days was good. What can you do this time to beat it? Just focus on each day and you have shown you have it within you to beat this addiction.... One day at a time.

Hello Everyone,

I am back. I need to refocus. I have been doing a few bets losing more money.

But

I'm getting sick of not having my wages paid to my account. My wife looks after my wages the last 2 years. I want to try again to manage money on my own. I know deep down it may not be a good idea.

What do the gamcare users think?
I feel quite low. 15 years working and i have saved nothing. Ok i only owe £250 on an overdraft.

Please give me your views I feel vulnerable.

Toad.

Hi Toad and welcome back.

My wages get paid into our joint account as do my wife's and for a prolonged period of time I had no card access to that account.

Result = no gambling.

Now I have a card back I very seldom use it and if I do I provide a receipt.

Result = no gambling.

Managing your own money. Hmm. Sorry for the "tough love" but what has changed from before?.

You need to keep the barriers high in order to stop gambling and move into recovery. Having no money means the triangle is permanently broken.

You shouldn't feel vulnerable - how you are feeling is part of your recovery which needs to start and begin to make progress or the vicious circle continues.

You know the right answer to your question - not sure if you want to hear that though.

Best wishes

Hello Balvaird,

Thankyou for your good advice. I know what you mean. I need the barriers high.

On Tuesday I carried £400.00 cash. It went into the fobt. I guess if i could of got more cash i would have chased it.

The only good news is i'm not rushing to get a credit card, loan or payday loan. It is not easy.

I will leave things to January and rethink. This gambling bug is so hard to shake off.

Toad.

Hi Toad, good to have you back. I agree with B's sentiments. I would love to have access to funds when I want them but still see the need to take care if the money, time, location triangle. It is relatively easy to change my position in terms of time and/or location but, if I don't have the cash then I can't gamble. You have requested our views so hear is mine - you are far more vulnerable when you have money than when you don't! How did you feel after you had your recent loss? Would you have lost this money if you didn't have access to it? Why were you carrying so much cash in the first place ?

Deep down you know what to do, I hope you make the right choice and wish you and yours well for the festive season. 2016 has the potential to be an excellent year for us all - we just have to make sure we release that potential!!!

Hello Folks,

Well I'm sitting in the house alone. I know there is over £500 in my wifes coat. But this is her money i give to her as a gift. I am strong today. The bookies opens till 8pm tonight.

I could lift a hundred maybe win ВЈ40. But i know what would happen. I would lose the hundred because I can't stop gambling. Then I would end up blowing the £500 and feel suicidal. Well i am strong today. I love my wife and she has helped me so much. I will not betray her i love her.

So the £500 stays but my god i am tempted.

But i won't touch it as my luck is c**P and i have given the bookies enough of my hard cash and i cant spoil xmas. If anyone reads this feel inspired because i usually don't feel strength to resist.

My wife just rang and i know things will be okay today. One day at a time.

Toad.

Hello All,

Well today i only brought ВЈ3.00 to work. Well i blew it in the bookies the whole ВЈ3. I did get it up to £7 then lost it all.

I am at home alone. The wife is out. There is £550 in the house. I have been tempted to lift it and go on the roulette but i have been strong.

I really need to tell the wife tonight i know were she hid the £550 i give her and it is in danger.

I can't afford to do my b******s in again.

Toad.
