Hi Subox,

Welcome to the forums, I'm going through a similar struggle myself, and am vowing not to gamble a single penny this year (and for years to come).

Best of luck to you, I'll be sure to offer support where and when I can.

Oh, and happy New Year!

Elproducto

I too am starting today on the third attempt of battling it, my main addiction is online slots. We have both started today, hopefully we can encourage each other and get through 2014 without a gamble.I wish you the best of luck and you CAN and WILL do this. Happy New (non gambling!!) Year.

Day 2 has arrived, am pleased to say I have not gambled!!!! Thanks for the supportive posts I am determined to beat this addiction this time, I think it will be easier this time as its a new year!!! I am going to try and keep busy and try new things like going to the gym, I do run and take my dog for long walks every day but I need something to focus on so thought I'd try to swap this addiction for one that's exercise, it's difficult to get there while my kids are off school but I will definately try once they go back next week, anyway I'm waffling now so keep strong everyone S x

Got my credit card bill today I am amazed how much money I have wasted on bloody on line gaming sites, I am such an idiot. Well nothing I can do about it now just try to get myself out of debt and to a life without gambling. It's just so shocking that I could've done it I've always been a really sensible person and hated any kind of debt. Anyway I'm just looking to the future now and hopefully get myself back on the straight and narrow.

I've shredded the bill now so my husband didn't see it as I've done every month for about 2-3 yrs. Next month there will be no gaming sites on my credit card bill.... Day at a time I will not gamble.

Keep strong everyone and take care S x

Day 5 today, I had some urges to gamble last night, my husband was on nights so I was home alone, always a time I 'used to' gamble, out of boredom I presume. I've been out for a long walk this morning, with the kids and dog, got some fresh air and exercise which helps a lot. Anyway I'll stay strong and not gamble today S x

Hi subox

A very well done on continuing to fight those urges in these very early days. I don't think it matters when we get urges - whether in the early days or later on in our recovery. For me, I went 7 months and then slipped up for a few hours last August. The important thing to remember about urges/cravings to gamble is that they will gradually subside. See them as like a huge wave, which as we all know, eventually come crashing down. " Surf the urge" so to speak!!

As you continue to abstain, I am sure you will happily welcome those statements showing no online transactions. For me, it was so nice to check my online banking and not to see any gambling transactions. Instead, just all the normal things that we pay out.

Take care and remain strong.

Thanks for your supportive post FEB, Day 6 today have been busy this morning getting food shopping with the last £60 to my name felt awful walking around the supermarket adding up what I was spending, kept it under £50 so I have enough for kids school dinners next week, bloody fed up and pay day seems a long way off, anyway back at work tomorrow so that usually keeps any temptation to gamble away. Keep strong everyone S x
