So new thread as I feel like I'm kind of in phase 2 of recovery... have come a long way from those fragile, rollercoaster early days but still am on red alert. Just don't ever want to re live the vicious cycle that has taken so much to break out of. Today has been . emotional as daughter rocked her GCSEs so I am inspired by her determination and sheer hardwork. People today said she is a credit to me but she is actually credit to herself too!! So I'm going to toast her success and look forward to our sunny futures, take care and stay GF S:)

Hi Sharon. How many days gamble free are you? Is there anything different you do to take your mind away from gambling. All the best and good luck in beating this

Hi Sidney I'm 162 days GF and my main objective is to get through one day at a time rather than longterm goals that at the beginning seemed impossible. Also literally anything that stops us gambling is good. Take care S:)

Hi Sharon, love the new title 'No going back but learning from the past'.

Learning is what life is all about, you are learning from the past and you are also learning alot about yourself on your journey.

So pleased your daughter has done well in her GCSE's, she will have so much to look forward too; sixth form/ college/ apprenticeships.

You too have shown sheer determination and hard work and are an inspiration to myself and many others 🙂

You are doing amazing, soon you will be half a year gamble free and how your life has changed for the better, through 'learning from the past'. x

Thanks WAI, although under rubbish circumstances I have learnt so much about myself mainly who I wsnt/ don't want to be. A lot has been gained by reading posts and contact here especially on days when I have felt like a wreck and broken. Congrats on your day 26, sounds like the fog is lifting and a GF future is on the horizon! Take care and enjoy the rest of the long weekend S x

Hi Sharon,

You must be immensely proud of your daughter's results and hats off to you for raising a super star alone.

The new thread is a good idea, freshen it up into the new stages of recovery. Glad to see you are as strong as ever.

Take care

Matt

Just thinking really that gambling used to dominate my thoughts pretty much 24/7, either 'yay, had a win so when can I gamble next' or 'oh s*** how can I recover from that big loss' alas both thoughts lead on to gambling anyway. But now it'S the furthest from my mind and getting that headspace back is one of the best things Take care and here's to being GF S:)

Yep that is the vicous circle of gambling, either way we always lose.

Keep going Sharon and use that headspace to enjoy what the world has to offer 🙂
