Morning Jeff thanks for your post and continued support. Good to see you can inject some humor into an otherwise at times very depressing subject 😉 Had a laff at your reply to my 98 out of a 100 times loss... good to smile somtimes even in the worse times. Sounds crappy i know but so true. All the best m8 Blocked.

Hi Jeff,

Cheers for the post mate.

You are right Everton might just sneak a spot in Europe again. I'd rather they didn't though to be honest. The Europa League takes a lot out of such a thin squad. I'd love to see us with a fully fit squad and without distractions having a *** at the top 4 again. As for this season i am relying on City keeping Liverpool out of that 4th spot as Spurs and Villa do not look up to it. Come on City!

I hope you enjoy your weekend Jeff and that you get a game of golf in. Put a bit of practice in on your chipping and putting mate and you will get down to single figures!

Well done on your continued recovery. You are an inspiration mate.

Hi All

Got up this morning with my usual saturday hangover. Ill have some brecky and sit down in front of the tv to watch all the sports Rugby ,Football and Racing.I have abstained from gambling completely for over 4 months now and have put my usual gambling stakes into the bank.People ask how can i watch the racing on tv when that was my problem.

Well i still enjoy it (without a bet). And i find that if a race comes on and i fancy a horse and that horse goes on to win the race, then i pay myself out of the money i have saved through not gambling and put my winnings back into the bank.Actually no money ever leaves the bank. I like to call it Virtual betting lol.Today i will not gamble Jeff.

Hi Jeff

Good man! you are now your own bookmaker...

"Jeffs bookmakers"...i can see that taking off. Seriously tho you must be doing something right after 4 months without even a blip, enjoy racing without the flutter if it works for you. just u keep that money in your own bank!!!!! nice one

You might have started a new industry mate. The none gambling bookmakers--you go in and have a drink and some food while watching the racing---oh nearly forgot you can do that now in a lot of pubs. Another bad business idea--good job I have just about worked out my new business-even lay in bed this morning thinking would'nt it be cool to give some jobs to 'my virtual friends' on this site. I may be looking for some commision based canvassers/sales people shortly.

Have a great weekend--I too will be watching some of the racing, soccer and rugby this afternoon-come on Ireland.

If I was to have a virtual bet today it would be Air Force One ew against Denman.

Hi Jeff,

Thanks very much for your support mate.

I've decided to get back to going cold turkey. I know that if i start having the occasional bet it will only be a matter of time before i am back to square one.

Besides i am planning a hard season of practice so that a few years from now i can be partnering Mickelson at Pebble Beach instead of hoping that he will put a few extra pounds in my wallet. Everyone has to have a dream!

Did you watch the big race today? I was shopping in Ikea with the wife but i caught a replay of the race on Channel 4+1. Sad to see Denman make a horlicks of two fences in the home straight. What chance do punters have when a racing great is getting turned over at 1/6? A good day for the bookies i feel.

I really admire your steadfast determination to beat this Jeff. I'm not ashamed to admit that i am a little envious of how easy you are making it look.

Long may it continue.

Hi Jeff

Thanks for your post on my diary.

I have to admit, I dont know how you can watch the racing, but if it works for you then go for it.

Just be careful it doesnt tempt you into betting for real again as you know where that leads.

Take care and stay strong.

Jim (last bet 22/04/06)

Hi All

Had a good day yesterday gamblewise,no urges.I wont gamble today. Its valentines day so i gave my missus some money to get her hair done. Ive got her some flowers and we will go out for a meal later. The thing is i think she deserves more. I think she needs some quality time with the kids. So i being the unselfish person that i am ,are going to get out of her way for a couple of hours, and go for a game of golf.(im only doing it for her honestly not).

Seriously it is good not having to borrow money if i want to go for a game or take my missus out. I dont know wether i have mentioned before but next door to my local there is a bookies. I dont even think of going in.I have tried to stop gambling many times before over my 30 year stint and although ive managed a 3 month abstinance before i was never comfortable with the idea of stopping for ever.I think i just needed to talk to other people just the same as me. I think ive found a few now lol.Jeff.

Morning Jeff.

Thanks for the words lf encouragement. Always good to get a boost.

Your last post made me smile. Might try the unselfish line next weekend if I fancy a round. Sure the Mrs would appreciate some more quality time with the kids, being the weekend after half term lol!!

Have a good day, and thanks again for the post.

Alrite mate, thanks for the posts on the diary, been really encouraging.

As part of the next phase of my rehab I plan to read some of the longer diaries (attention span permitting) to see how other people have coped with it.

Yours will defiately be one of these.

Thanks again for the contribution. Not only to me but to the site in general.

Ryan.
