Hi All

Thanks for the posts leedso,Curly,Seano NNS and wp.

Today there is no game of golf for me,So i will have an all day session in the pub.Even though i am a man city fan.I am looking forward to the Everton -Liverpool game.Ive got a feeling it is going to be a cracker.

This is the type of game i would have had a large single bet on (large for me anyway £100 maybe.)Of course these days im just going to enjoy it as the spectacle it is.I think my team playing at 4 oclock will be a bit of an anti climax.Still a good chance to close right up on Chelsea.

Ive decided i need to lose some weight now .Infact i started to cut down on 4th oct on my 1 year anniversary of no gambling .I think the fact that i have stopped gambling has led me to putting on weight.Eating through boredom.(i know im going out all day but i cant become a monk altogether lol.)

I think my new found willpower can help me along.

Today could be a bit of a tricky day as the local bookies is next door to the pub and a lot of my mates will be in and out. These days they dont even ask me if i want a bet putting on.I think they have started to believe in me.

Today i will go home with money in my pocket.

All the best Jeff.

Hi Jeff, good to hear from you fella. I know exactly what you mean about the food. I'm not overweight by any means (being an ectomorph is a big help....the one thing I learned from my uni days!), but I have certainly started eating more since I stopped gambling. Like you say, I think it's boredom and in some respects a treat....to replace gambling. As for the football, being an evertonian, I'm desperate for a win today. I need to get the kids out so I can watch it in piece and quite...plus my language may get a bit fruity! Top man. Russ

Hi Jeff.

Thanks so much for your post on my new (old) diary!

I read through it again the other day and time and time again you were there for me with a word of encouragement and a large helping of sound advice. I can't find the words to say how much your constant support means. The fact that never once have you given up on me is a huge incentive to keep fighting.

I'm not sure the golf lessons would be any good for you though mate. You will not find the way i grip the club in any textbook!

Keep on keeping on Jeff.

Hi All

First of all thanks Curley,wp,Russ,Crazy addict andd Seano for your posts. They are always appreciated.

My thought for today is a comparrison.

Im sure we have all had failed relationships before and sometimes the case is when the relationship is over from the point of view of your partner ,but you dont want it to end.A friend once mentioned, in this case you need to just remember all the bad times you have been through and all the things your partner done to hurt you .This way it is easier to get through this breaking up period. If you reminise on the good times the feelings are much harder to shake off.Hense you stay miserable for longer.

So i suggest anyone giving up.

Dont recall the few times you have felt good and won at gambling.Try to remember all the bad times it has put you through. The constant build up of adrenelin before the event only to be let down again.

Wierd comparrison i know,but i hope it makes sense.Stay strong all.Jeff.

Hi Jeff, good point you make in your last post,i hope people read it and add it to the non gambling "toolbox":).To be honest Jeff i hardly bother watching any racing these days, and that is something that has just evolved rather than something i've had to work at:).Enjoy your game of golf Jeff, and keep up the good work:).

A really thought provoking post. Yes, I do admit to thinking about the good times that I had in the past. Not that they happened very often but they were good.

From now on, I will ONLY think about the bad times. Perhaps this will help keep away those evil demon gambling thoughts.

Hi Jeff.

Thanks for the post mate.

Good win for City today and much needed. With Chelsea and Arsenal losing this afternoon the top of the table has opened up once again. A win for City in the manchester derby on Wednesday night would put the cat amongst the pigeons.

I think sometimes i take your continued abstinence for granted Jeff as i have such confidence in you.

Nevertheless i would just like to say well done on your continued recovery.

Hi Jeff, like Curly...I see you as such a solid kind of guy that I don't worry about you gambling again. The support the likes of you, wp, Seano, Stumper and Curly gave me when I first came on here was great. You have a wise head on you. Keep up the strong work. Russ
