well day one starts tommorow 11/11/2016
ok so day one completed
its amazing how much you can do in a day when you dont gamble
no urges today but still early
looking forward to posting tm for day 2
went for a month last time so thats my goal this time
fingers crossed
Well done mjb400, it's never too late to stop. Just about drawing a line in the sand & saying 'no more'. Think about what you can do & what you can't do.
thanks matt for the comment
i see you have stopped for like ages good for you
day 2 done kept busy today bit of decorating and went to the gym
one of my mates rang me to say he was of to the bookies
i wished him good luck and carried on with my day
didnt even want to go
so all good
ok so was busy yesterday and didnt get time to post
so today is day 4 and still no gambling
so almost a week
like i said my first goal it to reach 31 days.
Hey mjb400, I did stop for a long time. Ended up into bad habits again the last fews months. Not lost too much, but back here because I know I was edging closer to that slipery slope. Well done on day 4. Also well done on not joining your mate in the bookies. It is hard when your social life does involve gambling. But give it time, the social void will be feeled with something else. Keep up the good work.
Hello mjb. It seems as if gambling has played a promenant part of your life and that you now want to give up, especially now that you've put some blocks in place. However it may be more difficult if your friends are still encouraging you to gamble and you will have to stand up for yourself, otherwise you could get drawn back into it.
You lost alot of money the other day and perhaps you could feel yourself getting out of control. I recall many years ago when I lost £800 in a weekend and I felt totally gutted. I had only intended on staking £200 max.
Good luck to you in becoming free from gambling. You're right when you say that it's never too late to stop. Keep reading the posts on here to learn more about the battle that we all face and remember that if we don't change - nothing will change!
We have the power to decide.
hi all thanks for the replies,
have not posted for a fe days as i have been busy,
but today is day 8 gf so feeling good
have lisened to my friends loosing this week as they go to the booies,i dont want them to lose
but in a way it is helping me and i dont want to go even more
i cut up both my debit cards and just have my credit card,so even if i find a bookies i can
go in i cant spend anything as they dont accept credit cards.
only carry max of £50 with me at any time
counting the days oe by one
hi uncertain
my mistake was to still carrying debit cards. all bookies accept them and online so easy to play.
today i had my first urge to go to a bookies, then thought i only have a few quid on me and no access to money
so this stopped me even going in.
today day 9 and dont think i think about gambling so much already
the urge to play today didnt last very long after i realised i could not get any money.
stay strong everyone
well in to double figures now today is day 10
still going strong
keeping busy had a great day out today in winchester
with the family
day 12 and still got some money in my wallet,if i gambled it would have been empty since say 1
only thing in my wallet would have been debit card slips.
2 weeks is not that far away now
feeling happy
well i finnaly got to 2 weeks today
in that 2 weeks i only had one strong urge to go and gamble, but not having access to money stopped
that idea straight away
i would suggest to all trying to stop to do what i did
cut all your debit cards up,
if you know the 3 dig on the back off by heart order a new card and destroy it as soon as you get it
just keep a credit card that you can use for every day living and pay the balance when its due
its working for me.
next goal will be one month
goodluck
well as you can see i have not posted for a week or so.the reason for that is i let myself down
gambled again lost about £1500 of money i could not aford to lose.
so i was to ashamed to post
so today 4th Dec is day one again for me
really P****d of about this but have to keep going
its hard to let it go
Hi mjb we've been kicking around this forum for about the same time & I'm the same, one step forward & then two backwards. Manage a couple of weeks & then it gets the better of me. We've got no choice but to dust ourselves down & try again, it really is a right b**ger but get those blocks back in place & go again. Carrying large sums of money or access to debit cards is a recipe for disaster. I'm back on day one for the umpteenth time so good luck & let's see if we can at least get to xmas without pi**ing it all away.
hi spud thanks for reply
ok i say we can from now till nye and then into next year
i see you have not posted for a few months was because you stopped gambling for a while or did you gamble
this is so hard we all know the result befor we gamble
for me its the same you start again and you win for a few days
then it takes it all back plus loads more
whats the point
why cant i see this its been the same for years and years
Affected by gambling?
