Day 42 [without having had a bet]. It is now 6 full weeks since I had a bet and more importantly...it's 6 full weeks since I felt tempted to have a bet. Stay strong people.

Up to this point I just closed all online accounts and have changed my daily/weekly routine to remove the conditions under which I felt I was most likely to gamble. I wouldn't rule out any of the above but these last 8 weeks, I don't feel that I've been fighting a continual urge to bet but having 'finally' admitted that I have a problem with compulsive gambling and having read so many of the other diaries I fully believe that if I expose myself to the wrong conditions I could easily revert.

Visiting this site every day or two has been very beneficial to me. I know my story would resonate with others as so many of the other diaries have with me. Abstaining for as long as you have done is a massive achievement and I take strength from any evidence that it can be done......in NO WAY easily but, and this is very important, it CAN be done. Now I must do it.

Day 61 [without having had a bet]. Apparently there were a few 'massive' football matches on this weekend..? I was oblivious to them and guess what....the world kept spinning!? Have a good week and "Stay strong people".

Yeah well done Pk I'm trying to catch you up!

It really helps me too when I read other people's diaries, makes me think about all those times I walked away with empty pockets thinking why did I just do that?

Your doing well though, we both are.

Depeche Mode are one of my favourite groups and 'You Should be Higher' is one of my favourite songs but I've only just learnt of the meaning behind the song:

vocalist Dave Gahan is a former alcoholic and now chooses not to drink any booze at all. He told Mojo magazine: "I was out Christmas Eve, a nice restaurant, everyone drinking. I thought, 'Why can't I just have a glass of wine?' But I don't anymore, because even one glass opens a whole Pandora's box. My mind immediately thinks, I can go much higher. That's what 'Should Be Higher' is about - that line, 'The lies are more attractive than the truth.'

I now like it even more.
