Hi Ryan and sorry am a bit late to the party. Congratulations on your year gambling free. You have achieved a great deal in the last year including the support you have shown me in good times and bad. I think you have a wise head on young shoulders. I think your life will get better and better. Keep kicking them urges into touch. Learn from mine and others experiences...am sure you are. Warm regards... S.A 🙂

Thanks for the support as always guys, SA - we back each other up, that's largely what I think this forum is for. Tomorrow I head off for a week's road trip taking in sights as diverse as Bristol, Leeds, North Wales, and particularly, "The Widowmaker" - aka the road between Macclesfield and Buxton over the Pennines which is apparently the most dangerous in the UK. The 998cc motor would make this particularly dangerous road a lot of fun if it was on a motorbike, but its actually in a one litre toyota aygo, so I don't think I'm at risk of getting too caught up on that one, just going to enjoy the scenery, and put it down on the list of things I've done.

Actually taking a holiday would be completely alien to me while gambling, or if I had to go on holiday I would make sure I had the tools to gamble with me. This time, it's about enjoying good food and drink, catching up with family, and seeing a few sights around this lovely island of ours.

I wish everyone a good week - I'll be doing my very best to make sure that mine is! 372 days and counting.

All the best

Ryan

Thanks for the support as always guys. Finally made it back home after a week of traversing British roads, getting bacon butties from some of the most scenic food trailers in the UK, and learning that navigating city streets is not really for me. The Leeds one-way system is definitely not one I'm going to be challenging again.

Caught up with several members of my family I haven't seen in years, visited some really nice places and generally got to relax and unwind (apart from when I was lost somewhere!).

Still have another week before I'm back at the day job, but definitely intend to waste this week as much as possible by not even thinking about doing anything productive! Tried to catch up on the diaries yesterday afternoon, but was rudely interrupted by mam's sunday dinner, so I'll carry on with that too.

All the best

Ryan

Hi Ryan,

Looks like you hAd a great week travelling, and seeing family members, something I have yet to do, as I am up north and they are all down south in different areas lol.

Still raining here, but hey we have had a somewhat extended summer, so can't complain.

I agree with you about the centre of Leeds, not enough signs either for directions.

I live on the outskirts of Leeds and when I drive into leeds I still get lost, and I have lived up here 14 years now.

Have a lovely 2nd week off doing what you want to do.

Take care

Suzanne xx

I'm not sure if I'm just getting bored as I edge towards the end of my holidays, but the temptations are creeping around at the moment. They're not going to win this time, but my September holiday has been the bane of several periods of not gambling.

I can't stop counting, I guess its all going in the right direction. 382.

Read back my first post from September last year, I'm not sure how much has changed apart from not gambling, but that is still a big step forward. Now its just figuring out everything else!

All the best for a good weekend, hopefully minus these lightning storms.

Ryan

Hi Ryan,

Good to read you are squashing those thoughts as soon as they appear.

382 days is awesome, be very proud you have come so far now, you do right to immediately get rid of any temptation, I mean why would you want to do otherwise.

Keep doing what you are doing staying strong, and have a lovely rest of your holiday.

Hi Ryan and well done on your gambling free time. I understand what you say. Time off from work can be difficult. Am working hard and tired all the time. It makes it easier not to gamble. As Suzanne says I hope you are enjoying the rest of your holiday... you deserve it. Regards.. S.A
