Hello Everyone,
Today is my first step towards not gambling. Altough I gambled this morning, I have since signed up to the forum and am doing my upmost to ensure I dont do it again.
So today in a way is day 1. Im about to go an get lunch, where I would usally spend my change in the FOBTs. Not today.

Day 2.
Feeling good today, keeping positive.Very wary of the football season starting this weekend.. Adverts everywhere for accumalators.
Going to see the mighty Notts County away at Stevenage on Saturday. Will be nice to go to a game and not worry about the other results on my bet!
Well done Sam... keep going
Thanks Change.
Day 2 - Afternoon,
My boss has finished for the day leaving me on my own in the office, with very little to do. Trying my hardest to not even think about gambling. I must admit it is tough, really tough. I will get through the rest of the day.
Sam
Hi Sam
Well done on getting to day 2. Luckily at work I am so busy I don't even get a chance to eat my lunch let alone gamble but for me when work finishes that's when the urges begin. I get home and have not much to do and boredom is definitely a trigger for me. I have started finding things to occupy my time when this happens and it would be a good thing for you to do when you have a quiet period at work. Perhaps if you like readings book where you can read a chapter at a time until the urge has gone or to fill the gaps. Find funny animal videos to watch that not only pass the time but that make you laugh making you feel good. Ask the boss if there any extra jobs you can do, anything to fill in the gaps. You may sit here and think I don't have time to read a book at work or your boss wouldn't be very pleased and if that's the case the question would be how do I have the time to gamble and what would my boss think to gambling then reading a book.
Anyway it is important to build up strategies to fill the time more constructively and with something that gives you please beside gambling. I come on here, read and sometimes post. That keeps me distracted.
Hope the advice helps. Here's to a gamble free day.
Take care
Bex
Thanks for your comment Bex. I have decided to take a book in today its called "stop worrying & start living". I am also going to use my spare time at work to read about things I am interested in and also to make plans for my future. My spare time at work could be used so positiively rather then gambling. Really appreciate your advice. Thank you.
DAY 3!! - Yesterday on my way home from work I walked past l*******s and had a really strong urge to gamble. I managed to not go in and make my bus. This gave me a massive boost of confidence as I always would pop in on my way home. Normally losing then going home in a bad mood!
Really positive today!!! Just for today I will not gamble.
Sam
Thank you im glad the advice was of some help, positive distractions make it that much easier to get through the day.
Well done on walking past the bookies, a fantastic achievement and each time it will hopefully get easier.hold on to the thought of how around you were today to do that and how much of a boost it is. You are in control and not the gambling, what a great feeling it is.
Take care Bex
Thanks Bex. It was such a nice feeling to be able to walk past the bookies.I am proud of myself for getting this far however I know there is a long way to go. I appreciate your comments! 🙂
DAY - 4 today is proving to be difficult. The new football season starts tomorrow and everyone is talking about it. Who to put into their accumlators etc. I love football betting, it gives me such excitment to research the teams and find the best odds. This weekend will be the toughest I will face I believe. Im going to keep strong and get through it. I have no choice but to, I will have no access to the forum over the weekend, but when I do on Monday I will be so so proud of myself if I have got through this weekend.
Sam
Sam, no one said stopping gambling was easy for those of us who get addicted to it
Keep fighting - ODAAT
Are you reading other posts and shares on here especially the likes of day@atime and duncanmac?
Good luck over the weekend Sam. Football betting is also my downfall, the thrill of only needing one goal for an acca or that injury time winner got me hooked from the offset. I'm starting day 4 of no gambling, and just like you, this weekend is going to be a struggle. All the best and stay determined.
Hi Steven, Hope your weekend went well! It was a hard one but I managed to get through it. Hope you did too mate.
DAY 7 - I managed to get through the weekend without a single bet. There were several times where I could of had a bet but I didnt. I thoroughly enjoyed the weekends football without worrying about the results! Really pleased with myself and looking forward to the future.
Well done mate. Keep up the good work.
Thanks Steven
DAY 8 - Really positive at the moment, the days are flying by. Payday Friday which is always a danger. Reading the forum and logging in daily is really helping me!
