Been here before - this isn't my first thread.

I hadn't gambled for a long time but have felt it beginning to creep back into my life. I only really get the urge when I've had a drink but that's also when I'm most reckless with my money.

I don't want to make promises or pretend I've learnt my lesson - been there before and I still fell into the trap.

I'd just like a place to record my abstinence. I've found it the best way to stop in the past. I also recognise that I need to begin placing restrictions on money when leaving the house.

Haven't gambled since Boxing Day which makes this -

Day 7.

Hi Spoon, one day at a time. I have found not having much cash and restricted access to debit cards has helped.

Thanks Rhoda. Yes restricted access to cash is definitely the best block to put in place!

Day 10. No thoughts of gambling today. I cannot start because I cannot stop.

Very true Katiecoo. I feel relaxed and more focused on my life and that's because my mind is no longer occupied with thoughts of the next bet.

Day 13 - nearly two weeks since my last bet. I cannot start because I cannot stop.

Thank you Chrissy - very true.

Nearing a whole month gamble-free. I dread to think how much money I'd have lost in that time had I carried on down the same path I was on.

26 days - I cannot start because I cannot stop.
