Hi,
A bit of background, I've been a CG for 4/5 years.. around three years ago I won £22,000 in one night betting on Tennis which was enough to clear all my debt.. but obviously I lost it all and now I have further debts in the region of £20,000.. online sports betting is my poision (don't think ive ever even stepped foot into a proper bookies!)
Like alot of you just wanting to keep track of my recovery. I started 2018 with a resolution to quit completely but relapsed a few days into it - my partner got me a trip to Rome for the end of January and I panicked because I had no money to take and turned to gambling hoping to earn a quick buck or two.. obviously I lost.. why after being a CG for 4/5 years do I still think I can make a couple of hundred quid without getting greedy and end up getting myself in more debt? Anyway, my partner knows about it all and is so supportive.
Anyway, today is the day I try again and feel by writing my thoughts down here it may keep my spirits high .. betting doesnt make me happy anymore and neither does winning.. you may be able to tell by this post i am just thoroughly P****d off with it all!
any support welcome.
Hi tb1010
welcome to the forum, I will follow your journey and chip in with support where and when I can. There is no advise really apart from making the right choices and those choices are to try and not gamble again, without any promises, day at a time. You can do this, make a brighter future for yourself and make yourself and family proud. I am rooting for you and have full faith in you. We are the strongest people alive having to deal with this nightmare illness that none of us asked for.

My story is long, 17 years onwards, 42 now, stop-start, sports betting mainly and roulette, heavy losses and not so heavy losses just struggled to kick it for very long periods, a year at most. Often gamble because life isn't going right or because of stress, pressure and depression. Together however we can win each day that we don't gamble and free ourselves of this devouring illness, which is what it is. Wilsy.

What's the longest you've been GF for? Whatever it is, lets make sure we beat it. I have only ever done 10 days completely clean so my first goal is to beat that.. then two weeks.. then a month etc.. small goals makes the task seem manageable 🙂
Just over a year mate, often done 2-3 months quite often, I'd like to crack it forever now though, I'm determined.
We can do it brother!
Affected by gambling?
