It all started when I turned 18, I work full time and 'used' to have a lot of disposable income. I only brought the best quality clothes and shoes alongside good food brands etc. It all started after I suffered with payday loans w#nga, Quick#uid and others. I got up to around £2000 in debt at 18/19 was really bad anyways i had the willpower to lower that debt to £600 before explaining to my mum and dad about my problem. They borrowed me money to pay the rest off, finally my life's back on track so I started getting £800 spending money every month and no outgoings after paying £200 board. I decided to start putting £20 a month into poker and sports bets which all worked out fine for the first 6 months then I got a big win (£160) of a small bet which had me thinking if I played that bet with £100 I would of been very wealthy so a few months passed I was hooked on sports betting. After losing around £200 each month I decided to move on so I discovered online roulette and it was just evil it entices you in with some big wins and the reel is like a black hole once your in play you can't stop till you lose! I have finally had enough and I need to quit whilst I still can, I shall update my diary every time I have a urge to gamble.

Hi Isaac - good for you that you have taken some steps and came on here to try and help you stop this addiction. I've only been posting on here for two weeks after finding out my 25 year old son has been gambling for 3 years. Similar to you he got a new job allowing him expendable money, didn't manage this newfound money well, started with pay day loans, the odd £5 bet and is now progressed to £300 per week gambling. - at least you have admitted to your addiction and want to fight it (my son is not ready to do that). You should take advice off the lovely people in here, from cg themselves to partners and family members. - you need to self exclude yourself from all online betting facilities and install K9 app on your phone/tablet/laptop this is a blocking software. If you go to betting shops you need to self exclude from these also. - you say your parents know so you need to hand over your finances to them, they can give you a weekly allowance which is agreeable to you both. - read everything you can on here, ask for counselling sessions off gamcare, join the live chat every night between 8-9pm. - as i say I have only been on this site for 2 weeks but have learned a lot about this addiction that I didn't know, read some soul destroying stories and some positive stories as well. - please try your hardest to stop, this is a progressive addiction. Tell your parents about this site as well so they can see what they can do to support you. I wish you well in your new gamble free life.

I can relate to this story so much!

When I was 18/19 I got into a lot of pay day loan debt which my parents bailed me out with using an 8000 loan which is now paid off. I'm now 24 and have been using online roulette and roulette in betting shops for the past 2 years but only recently I have been loosing around 2000 a month sometimes more.

I only signed up yesterday as I lost £400 and I've had enough of feel the way I do, we can beat this and we can stop gambling! We need to find things for our minds to focus on rather than imagining getting that 'big win' that we all want. Let me know how your getting on buddy
